US07762776B2 Vortex shedding cyclical propeller
A propeller having one or more blades eccentrically mounted to a shaft dynamically changes the blade pitch to produce free vortices in a fluid. For extracting energy from a moving fluid, the fluid flow acting on the blades rotates the propeller, while the pitch changes create a fluid flow pattern known as a von Karman vortex street. The resulting time averaged flow field distant from the propeller is a wake flow, and the energy of the fluid flow can be efficiently converted to rotation of a shaft driven device. For propulsion, applied shaft rotation and the dynamic pitch change in a fluid together create a flow pattern that is the inverse of the von Karman vortex street. For either energy extraction or propulsion, the propeller is particularly suited for low flow speeds, where the effects of low Reynolds number induced flow separation on blades may make other propellers inefficient.

Such techniques can include injecting molten metal into the sprue of a mold tree such that the side runners are backfilled after the molten metal impacts a closed end of the sprue. Side runners can be oriented in particular directions and positions to promote backfilling. As well, flask temperatures and the use of surfactants can also promote cast part formation, hindering the formation of surface defects.
US07762300B2 Apparatus for manufacturing reclosable bags utilizing zipper tape material
A reclosable zipper strip is dispensed through a feeding mechanism and, when an optical sensor detects one of the splotch seal portions of the zipper strip, a desired length of zipper strip is advanced over an elevator platform. A knife is then signaled to descend and sever the advanced portion of zipper strip, which is thus deposited onto the elevator platform. As the selected portion of the zipper strip is being positioned and deposited onto the elevator, the web of flexible film is being positioned above the platform. A sealing head is then positioned over the web of flexible film, while at the same time the elevator platform is driven upwardly so that the zipper strip portion positioned thereon comes into contact with the web of flexible film. The heat passing through the web of flexible film creates an airtight seal of the zipper strip to the web.

US07762094B2 Valve control system, valve control apparatus and valve control method
In a refrigeration cycle system, temperature sensors measure the temperatures Tin and Tout of a refrigerant at the entrance and exit of an evaporator. A control circuit performs PID calculation based on signals from the temperature sensors in order to control a degree of superheat corresponding to the difference between the temperatures Tin and Tout at the entrance and exit to an aimed value, and calculates an operation amount for the opening degree of an expansion valve. In a case where the operation amount exceeds the limit of realizable velocity of driving an actuator that actuates the expansion valve, the control circuit performs a limiter process for limiting the operation amount so as not to exceed the limit value. The control circuit drives the actuator by using the operation amount after subjected to the limiter process, thereby to stably control the opening degree of the expansion valve.

US07762034B2 Rotary stitch for joining sheet metal stock
A method for securing two pieces of sheet material is provided using a stitch preferably made by sequentially passing the grid member through two die sets. The first die set lances a strap out of the two sheets of metal such that, at the approximate center or midsection of the strap, the first layer of material is displaced completely out of the plane defined by the web, while the second layer is only partially displaced out of the plane of the web so that a portion of the second layer remains in the space vacated by the first layer of the strap. The lanced strap is then passed through a second die set, in which the first and second layers of the strap are deformed or “swaged” such that the first layer is flattened and expanded in width beyond the edges of the hole in the web created when the strap was lanced. This provides interference such that the first layer of the strap cannot pass back through the hole. Additionally, the strap in the second web is deformed and displaced into the first web to bond the two together.

US07761956B2 Dry cleaning system for workpieces
A system for dry cleaning workpieces by removing solid and/or liquid particles adhereing thereto with a gaseous medium by suction. To this end, a suction mold encloses the workpieces on all sides while serving as a guiding device whose inner contour follows the outer contour of the workpiece. The cleaning medium flows to the gaps between the suction mold and the workpiece via feed slots and/or feed boreholes of the suction mold. Gaps, medium feed slots and/or medium feed boreholes are formed, arranged and dimensioned so that the flowing medium has a velocity of greater than 20 m/s everywhere on the surface of the workpiece, and the solid and/or liquid particles adhereing thereto are carried away. The suction slot, through which the flowing medium is removed by suction, and the suction duct which is connected thereto and which leads to the suction unit, has larger cross-sections than the sum of the cross-sections of all the gaps between the workpiece and the suction mold, and also the sum of the cross-sections of the medium feed slots and/or of the medium feed boreholes. The sum of the cross-sections of the medium feed slots and or of the medium feed boreholes corresponds to 0.9 to 1.2 times the sum of the cross-sections of all the gaps between the workpieces and the suction molds.
