US07958858B2 Variable valve timing system and method for controlling the same
A variable valve timing system changes a valve phase by reducing an operation amount of an actuator at a speed reduction ratio that varies depending on a phase region. The mounted shield wall components form a conductive wall to electromagnetically shield the electronic component. The non-conductive portion of one or more of the mounted shield wall components is sawn through, leaving some or all of the conductive portion of the mounted shield wall components. A top conductive shield can be applied. The non-conductive portions can provide stability during a reflow soldering process, while the sacrificial non-conductive portions are sawn through so that they can be removed to reduce the amount of area occupied by the overmoldable shield structure.

US07958620B2 Method of producing a rotary encoder
A method of determining the eccentricity of an encoder scale member of a rotary encoder includes taking an encoder scale blank having a geometric center and mounting the encoder scale blank centered about a second center. A scale can then be produced on the encoder scale blank thereby forming an encoder scale member. The scale of the encoder scale member is centered about the second center. Any eccentricity between the geometric center and the second center is measured by, for example, measuring any change in the apparent radius of the encoder scale member. The encoder scale member may then be mounted in a working location wherein it is rotated about a third axis. The eccentricity when mounted in the working location may be matched to that measured during manufacture thereof and/or the eccentricity errors arising from both manufacture and mounting of the encoder scale member may be determined.
US07958619B1 Disk chuck with radial force limiter
A chuck holds a disk by the inside diameter with a plurality of contact surfaces at the end of fingers. Axial motion of an actuator is translated into outward radial movement of the fingers to place the contact surfaces in contact with the inside diameter of the disk. The force that is applied to the disk is limited to reduce or eliminate warping or curvature of the disk, e.g., a sleeve that surrounds the fingers can be used as a hard stop to physically limit the range of outward radial movement of the fingers.

The technical wood products have two opposing planar surfaces, the end faces connect the opposing planar surfaces and have a relatively small surface area compared to the two opposing planar surfaces. At least one of the end faces and the longitudinal sides have grooves for receiving the connecting elements. The method includes providing an inventory of pre-fabricated connecting elements. Cutting and separating the connecting elements and transferring the connecting elements from the inventory into magazines. Grasping individual ones of the connecting elements from the magazines with a transfer device and lifting or lowering the individual connecting element to the height of the groove in the technical wood products. Pressing the individual connecting element into the groove of the continuously conveyed technical wood products with a press-in unit in a program-controlled manner.

Preferably, communications between modules are radio frequency (RF) wireless, however wired communications, where wiring is possible or available, are also suitable.
US07958591B1 Cleaning tool with telescoping shaft and manipulateable, interchangeable cleaning surfaces
A cleaning tool having a cleaning head disposed at the distal and of an elongated, extendable shaft. A handle at the proximal end contains a lever attached to a linkage. The cleaning head has an elbow joint and provides an attachment point for an upper support arm and a lower support arm movable with respect thereto. The elbow joint allows the cleaning head to be rotated with respect to the distal end of the elongated, extendable shaft. Two-sided pads may be attached to distal ends of both the upper arm and the lower arm. Each two-sided pad may have a different cleaning property on each of its two major faces. This allows up to four different cleaning surfaces to be present at the cleaning head of the cleaning tool of the present invention. A linkage is provided between the lever and the lower support arm.

US07958570B1 Cap shape retainer insert
The present invention is an insert that may be placed within a cap such as base ball cap or a golf cap to maintain the original shape of the cap. In one embodiment, the insert comprises a one piece flexible sheet having a centrally located longitudinal axis dividing the sheet into left and right halves that are mirror images of each other. The sheets has square shaped holed spaced throughout the sheet to provide increased ventilation. The sheet has a non-continuous peripheral edge having catch portions to prevent the insert from slipping during use of the cap. The sheet further comprises a lower portion having a central edge portion substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. The lower portion comprises left and right edge portion inclined to the longitudinal axis. The lower portion further comprises a v-shaped cut-out extending inward from the central edge. The v-shaped cut-out allows the left and right halves of the sheet to be bent so that the left and right edge portions be properly seated within the cap to provide a proper shape. The upper portion further comprises first, second, and third flexible support fingers and first and second valleys spacing the fingers. The first and second valleys are of sufficiently deep so as to allow the fingers to be highly flexible. When the insert is placed in the cap, the fingers promote a concave shape at the intersection of the front face and top portion of the cap.
