    • PURPOSE:To roll well a metallic slab, with less fish tail and without hindering the rolling time, by edging a biting end-part of slab under the rolling reduction of maximum load and horizontally rolling its whole surface, and horizontally rolling only a thickness-increased part of the other part of slab, in reversingly edging the slab by calibered vertical rolls. CONSTITUTION:In reversingly edging a metallic slab by calibered vertical rolls, the biting end-part of slab is edged under the rolling reduction of maximum load, the whole surface of said end-part containing a thickness increased part caused by said edging is rolled by horizontal rolls. The other part of slab is edge under a prescribed edging condition, and only its thickness increased part caused by the edging is horizontally rolled. By this method, a rolling with less fish tail is performed without hindering as usual the rolling time, and a hot rolling process connected directly to a continuous casting process is operated in well cooporation with each other.

    • PURPOSE:To improve the yield of a steel strip in a continuous hot rolling line provided with a rough rolling stage provided with >=1 units of roughing mills and a finish rolling stage by rolling over the steel strip at the rough rolling rate within a specific range. CONSTITUTION:The billet emitted from a heating furnace 1 is scaled off under the light reduction in the transverse direction by a VSB3 and is rolled at the rough rolling rate within a 30-70% range by the 1st roughing mill 4. The steel strip is ejected to the outside of the line by a steel strip elector 11 and is rolled over 180 deg. by the taper roler mechanism of a steel strip rolling over region 12 so as to be returned again to the line, then the suceeding rolling is continued. The bottom shape at the front end of the steel strip and the fishtail shape at the rear end are annihilated or decreased, by which the discarding quantity at the termimal end of the strip is considerably decreased and the yield of the strip is incrased. The steel strip is rolled over preferably at the timing with the length of the strip is not so large rolling over may be repeated according to the kind of the steel.

    • PURPOSE: A blade guiding/controlling device is provided to restrains shape badness such as curling up of front and back end portions, splitting of both side edge portions, and tearing up of the blade when the blade is rolled. CONSTITUTION: Guide blocks (200) are fixed to opposite inner surfaces of a side guide head (100). Guide rolls (220) are inserted into the guide blocks so as to be moved upwardly and downwardly along the guide block by power transmission of a driving motor (250) and a screw shaft(230). A cutting support block (300) is fixed to the inner surface of the side guide head. Cutters (310) are installed in the cutting support block so as to be protruded in the same direction as the guide rolls. A controlling plate (320) is inserted into a space between the cutters so as to be moved upwardly and downwardly. Operation cylinders (330) are connected to the upper surfaces of the controlling plates, and are fixed to the upper surface of the side guide head so that the controlling plates are moved upwardly and downwardly. A pressing plate (400) is provided such that it is folded or unfolded by a pressing cylinder (420) connected to a vertical cylinder (430).
