    • PURPOSE:To decrease considerably the crop quantity of a rolling material by making the wall thickness at both ends in the rolling direction larger than the wall thickness in the intermediate part in the final pass of a forming rolling stage and cross rolling stage. CONSTITUTION:A slab SL is formed with the thick-walled parts SBf, SBr at both ends in the longitudinal direction thereof in the forming rolling stage X and the material SB which is subjected to the forming rolling stage by the rolling of making substantially zero the plate crown in the intermediate part as well as automatic thickness-controlled rolling is obtd. The material SB is then rotated 90 deg. horizontally and is rolled to be formed with the thick-walled parts SWf, SWr at both ends in the rolling direction in the cross rolling stage Y. The material SW subjected to the rolling stage is obtd. by the rolling to make nearly zero the plate crown in the intermediate part. The material SW is further rotated 90 deg. horizontally and is rolled in the finish rolling stage Z. The finished plate CP of which the four corner parts are provided respectively with overhang parts CPa, CPb, CPc, CPd by projecting the respective circumferential edges thereof toward the outside and the intermediate part except said parts is made into a rectangular shape is obtd.

    • PURPOSE:To reduce remarkably respective deviations of the width and length of a finished plate and to improve its yield by adjusting a rolling down position at the final pass of a preceding rolling before broadening a rolling stock, and estimating the end shape in the longitudinal direction of a rolled plate (product) obtained after finishing its broadside rolling, to roll the stock so that the thickness distribution in the width direction of product corresponds to the estimated shape. CONSTITUTION:In said final pass; the deformation resistance of a rolling stock and the change of inlet thickness thereof, are obtained by a computing unit 6 based on the informations of a distance meter 2 and a load cell 3, and the amounts of load variations at the front and rear ends in the rolling direction of the stock are previously obtained by experiments to control a hydraulic rolling down mechanism 5 so as to adjust the rolling down position. Further, a crop shape at the end in the longitudinal direction of a product is estimated to roll the stock so as to make the plate-thickness distribution greater in thickness at each end of the plate in its width direction of the final pass of broadside rolling, when the crop shape is similar to a tongue shape and to make said distribution greater in thickness at the central part when the crop shape is similar to a fishtail shape. In this way, respective deviations of the width and length of a thick finished plate can be remarkably reduced.

    • PURPOSE:To reduce a crop loss at the end of a rolling sheet-material and to improve its rolling yield by setting the width rolling reduction at a slab-biting part larger than a prescribed one to roll the slab reversingly in reversing rolling the slab width by a vertical mill having vertical rolls with calibers. CONSTITUTION:In rolling a slab in the width direction by using vertical rolls 4, 6 with calibers, the fixed length of a slab biting part is rolled under a rolling reduction larger than a prescribed one, and then the slab is reversingly rolled under the prescribed rolling reduction. When the slab is reversely rolled, the formation of a fish tail is remarkably reduced by the rolling conjointly with the effect of the caliber part. Therefore the crop loss of the slab is reduced and its rolling yield is improved.
