    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing diazomethane in a high yield rapidly and continuously without danger of explosion and without influence of a harmful substance on operators. SOLUTION: N-Methyl-N-nitrosoamine is dissolved in a mixed solution of an organic solvent having water compatibility to dissolve N-methyl-N- nitrosoamine and an organic solvent having water incompatibility to dissolve diazomethane. The flow of the mixed solution is mixed with that of an aqueous solution of an inorganic salt. After a proper retention time, the mixture is separated into an aqueous phase and an organic phase and both the phases are separated. A series of processes of these operations are continuously carried out. In the case in which N-methyl-N-nitrosourea is used as the amine, before the diazomethane process, an aqueous solution of methylurea and a nitrite is mixed with an organic solution of an inorganic acid or an organic acid in which the solvents of the organic solution are the above-mentioned two organic solvents. After a proper retention time, the solution is separated into an aqueous phase and an organic phase to cause the phase separation of both the phases. A series of processes of these operations are continuously performed. The obtained organic phase is successively supplied to a diazomethane process step.

    • PURPOSE: To inject fuel to a high speed fluid flow so as to increase mixing and combustion efficiency of the fuel by combining exit ports and throats to create and maintain a substantially streamlined supersonic fuel jet plume shape. CONSTITUTION: An injector includes a generally elongated body 36 including a surface 44 substantially flush with a wall, the surface 44 having a proximate end and a distal end. The proximate end encounters air into which fuel is to be injected before the distal end. The injector further includes at least one fuel inlet port 38 connected to the body 36, at least one fuel exit port 40 in the surface 44 substantially flush with the wall, and at least one throat 42 internal to the body 36 through which fuel serially passes after passing through the inlet ports 38 and before passing through the exit ports 40. This arrangement of the fuel exit ports 40 and throats 42 combine to create and maintain a supersonic fuel jet plume shape having exit pressure locally matched with the flowing air.

    • PURPOSE: To increase thrust efficiency by forming a primary nozzle for injecting a primary fluid jet and a secondary fluid to be entrained, and providing a first and a second fluid jet injection means in a thrust duct. CONSTITUTION: A primary nozzle 26 has a first and a second side walls 32, 34, and a primary fluid jet 20 and a secondary fluid 22 to be entrained are injected, so the primary fluid jet 20 and the secondary fluid 22 flow through the thrust duct. The primary fluid jet 20 is alternatively separated from the first side wall 32 and the second side wall 34, and therewith a means for linearly oscillating the primary fluid jet 20 and the secondary fluid 22 to be entrained in the thrust duct, is arranged. Furthermore, the primary nozzle 26 is positioned in outside of the thrust duct, a first and a second fluid injection means 28, 30 are provided as means for alternatively separating the primary fluid jet. By this manner, the vibrating unstable primary jet 20 improves the thrust efficiency of the system.
