    • A method of determining accuracy of predicted system behavior can include creating a plurality of noise adjusted analytical models, wherein each noise adjusted analytical model is associated with a set of predefined analytical model parameters. A set of inferred analytical model parameters for each noise adjusted analytical model can be derived. Each set of inferred analytical model parameters can depend upon a current noise adjusted analytical model and each prior noise adjusted analytical model. For each set of inferred analytical model parameters, a measure of error between the set of inferred analytical model parameters and the set of predefined analytical model parameters associated with the noise adjusted analytical model from which the set of inferred analytical model parameters was derived can be determined.

    • A system, method and computer program product for calibrating a Time Of Day (TOD)-clock in a computing system node provided in a multi-node network. The network comprises an infrastructure of computing devices each having a physical clock providing a time base for executing operations that is stepped to a common oscillator. The system implements steps for obtaining samples of timing values of a computing device in the network, the values including a physical clock value maintained at that device and a TOD-offset value; computing an oscillator skew value from the samples; setting a fine steering rate value as equal to the opposite of the computed oscillator skew value; and, utilizing the fine steering rate value to adjust the physical clock value and correct for potential oscillator skew errors occurring in the oscillator crystal at the computing device.

    • With the widespread adoption of SIP-based VoIP, understanding the characteristics of SIP traffic behavior is critical to problem diagnosis and security protection of VoIP services. A general methodology is provided for profiling SIP-based VoIP traffic behavior at several levels: SIP server host, server entity (e.g., registrar and call proxy) and individual user levels. Using SIP traffic traces captured in a production VoIP network, the characteristics of SIP-based VoIP traffic behavior in an operational environment is illustrated and the effectiveness of the general profiling methodology is demonstrated. In particular, the profiling methodology identifies anomalies due to performance problems and/or implementation flaws through a case study. The efficacy of the methodology in detecting potential VoIP attacks is also demonstrated through a test bed experimentation.

    • A method and an apparatus for liquid safety-detection by backscattering with a radiation source are provided that relate to a radiation detecting technology field. The invention comprises using a radiation source, a collimator, a detector, a data collector and a computer data processor, and has the main steps of: 1) placing a liquid article to be detected onto a rotatable platform; 2) emitting a ray from the radiation source, said ray causing Compton scattering at the surface of the liquid after passing through the package layer of the liquid article; 3) the scattering photons being received by the detector after passing the collimator; 4) the detector transmitting the received data to the data collector; and 5) the data collector transmitting the amplified and shaped data to the computer data processor, which processes the data to obtain the liquid density of the detected article, then compares the result with the densities of dangerous articles in a current database, and gives a warning if the density of the detected article is consistent with that of a dangerous article. Compared to the prior art, the invention is convenient to use, detects rapidly and accurately, has a strong anti-interference, is very safe and reliable to use, and protection is easy.
