    • Automatic welding machine includes: a welding torch mounted to a link actuation device set on a mount; and a one-or-more-axes linear motion actuator which causes the link actuation device to advance and retract relative to the mount. The link actuation device includes: a proximal end side link hub disposed on the mount; a distal end side link hub to which the welding torch is mounted; and three or more link mechanisms configured to couple the distal end side link hub to the proximal end side link hub. Each link mechanism includes proximal side and distal side end link members and an intermediate link member. Two or more link mechanisms are each provided with a posture changing actuator which arbitrarily changes the posture of the distal end side link hub relative to the proximal end side link hub.

    • A portable battery powered welder is disclosed that is configured to operate without an external power source. The portable battery powered welder may include a battery coupled to a welding circuit and a wire feeder. Further, the portable battery powered welder may include a suitcase to integrally support and completely enclose the welding circuit, the battery, and the wire feeder. The suitcase may include a lateral access door having a hinge and a latch. Additionally, the wire feeder and a wire spool may be disposed in a region accessible by the lateral access door. The suitcase may also include an access panel disposed over a region containing the battery. The access panel may be mounted to the case via a snap mount and/or secured via fasteners. Finally, the suitcase may include a top handle and may be made of a lightweight, impact resistant, and flame retardant material.

    • Apparatus for allowing a welder to control the output power of a welding machine, and thus its arc power by applying force to a surface of a force sensing transducer assembly. The force sensing transducer assembly generates a force signal based upon the force applied, for example by reducing the resistance within the force sensing transducer assembly. A control interface module then receives the force signal and controls the welding machine power output based upon the force signal. The welder may set the range of force to change the arc power by setting a minimum amount of force to actuate the welding machine and a maximum force that increases the output power of the welding machine (force below the minimum does not actuate the welding machine and force above the maximum does not increase the welding machine power above a certain level). A user interface provides potentiometers for setting the minimum and maximum, and also provides indicators such as LEDs for indicating whether the welding machine is turned on and actuated. The force signal may be transmitted over a cable or wirelessly.
