    • A sheet feeding apparatus has a separation device including a rotational feeding member rotatable in the direction of sheet feeding and a counter-rotational member rotatable in the direction counter to the sheet feeding direction, and an elastic member disposed in resilient contact with the rotational feeding member in a region near a nip formed between the rotational feeding member and the counter-rotational member, so as to perform sheet separation in cooperation with the rotational feeding member. The leading ends of the sheets delivered from a sheet tray by a delivery roller are staggered in the nip between the rotational feeding member and the elastic member, and the staggered sheets are separated one-by-one in the nip between the rotational feeding member and the counter-rotational member.

    • A yarn winder, used for winding various kinds of yarns by automatically setting the moving speed of a bobbin holder so that it is suitable for the increasing size of the yarn package wound onto the winding bobbin holder. In the winder, while a contact roller (7) is pressed onto a bobbin (9) inserted onto a bobbin holder (8) or a yarn layer wound on the bobbin (9), a yarn (Y) is traversed by a traverse apparatus (6), and thus, the yarn is wound on the bobbin. The movement of the contact roller due to increase of the wound yarn is detected by a sensor (16), and the slider is moved based on signals detected by the sensor so as to move the bobbin holder in such a direction that it moves away from the contact roller. The slider is actuated by signals from the sensor detecting the amount of the movement of the contact roller, and the speed of the winder can be varied stepwise or continuously.

    • An apparatus and method for stacking a plurality of flat articles on edge, comprising a discharge magazine for sequentially receiving and stacking the flat articles in a stack, the discharge magazine including moveable discharge support belts adapted to support the stack of articles on edge and a moveable compression plate to maintain the articles on edge. A drive element is provided for controllably moving the discharge support belts. A stacker section adjacent the discharge magazine transports articles sequentially into the stack, the stacker section comprising stacker belts extending around a plurality of rollers. The last of the articles in the stack abuts against the stacker belts adjacent one of the rollers to apply a compressive force developed by the stack of flat articles and the compression plate to the one roller. The one roller is movably mounted to the apparatus for movement responsive to increases and decreases in the compressive force. A deflection plate is positioned proximate the one moveable roller to deflect leaning sides of the articles from inadvertently applying pressure to the moveable roller. An actuator element is operatively connected to and responsive to movement of the one roller and connected to the drive element for activating the drive belts and the discharge support belts to transport the stack of flat articles away from the stacker section when the compressive force reaches a predetermined maximum value.

    • A paper disjointing device employable for a paper feeding unit such as a paper feeding cassette or the like serves to individually disjoint papers from each other without an occurrence of malfunction that one corner of each paper is delivered ahead of the other corner of the same. To cope of a size of each paper to be delivered, papers received in the paper feeding unit are normally squeezed toward one side wall of the paper feeding unit by a movable side guide slidably mounted on a bottom plate of the paper feeding unit. The paper disjointing device includes a first snubber on the movable side and a second snubber on the stationary side. The first snubber is turnably mounted on the movable side guide so as to depress one corner of each paper, and has a comparatively light weight. The first snubber is normally turnably biased to generate a depressing force via a pawl member disposed at the foremost end thereof. The second snubber is turnably mounted on the side wall of the paper feeding unit so as to depress the other corner of the paper, and has a weight larger than that of the first snubber. The second snubber is likewise normally turnably biased to generate a depressing force via a pawl member disposed at the foremost end thereof. To assure that both the corners of each paper are depressed with a same depressing force, a coil spring is disposed at the rear end of the first snubber.
