    • Systems, devices, methods, and computer-readable mediums for generating a radio map of an area are disclosed. In one aspect, the device, method, and computer-readable medium perform processes that may include receiving in at least one processor first information associated with at least one wireless device at a first location in the area. The processes may include receiving in the at least one processor second information associated with at least one wireless device at a second location in the area and different from the first location. The first location within said area and the second location within the area are unknown to the at least one processor. The processes may also include generating a radio map of the area using the first information and the second information.

    • A wireless location system has at least one wireless tag to be located by the wireless location system, wherein the at least one wireless tag transmits two wireless signals having a known time relationship and having different bandwidths. A plurality of receivers is provided wherein a first receiver receives and processes a first of the two wireless signals and estimates a time to arrive (TOA) of the first wireless signal, and a second receiver receives and processes a second of the two wireless signals and estimates a TOA of the second wireless signal at the second transceiver. The plurality of receivers is time synchronized based on a common timing signal. A location server is coupled to each of the plurality of receivers. The location server receives the TOA of the first wireless signal from the first receiver and the TOA of the second wireless signal from the second receiver. The location server calculating a TDOA of the two wireless signals and estimates a position of the at least one wireless tag based on the TDOA.

    • An indoor location system has acoustic wave emitters, electromagnetic emitters, and a mobile device. Each acoustic wave emitter is configured to emit an acoustic wave having an acoustic wave frequency and wavelength, and an electromagnetic signal that includes electromagnetic emitter data related to that electromagnetic emitter and data indicative of a frequency and/or wavelength of an acoustic wave emitted by the acoustic wave emitter that is associated with that electromagnetic emitter. The mobile device is configured to detect the acoustic waves and to receive the electromagnetic signals, and to determine the frequency and/or wavelength of the detected acoustic wave and to compare the determined acoustic wave frequency and/or wavelength with the data included in each received electromagnetic signal, thereby to determine which received electromagnetic emitter data was included in the electromagnetic signal which also included the data indicative of the frequency and/or wavelength of the detected acoustic wave.

    • Disclosed embodiments provide methods and systems for locating a device in a wireless network. In one aspect, a device may broadcast a signal, and one or more network components may measure the received signal strength of the signal. Based on the signal strength and/or at least one or more parameters, the one or more network components may determine whether to perform a round trip time measurement with the network device. The network components may perform the round trip time measurement based on the determination and report the results of the measurement to a server. The server may be configured to determine the location of the network device based on the round trip time measurement.

    • A wireless local area network (WLAN) method and system for presence detection provide a low-cost and WLAN-compatible means for detecting the presence of an asset without requiring full location-finding support within a WLAN environment. The presence of a transmitter is detected by examining the signal strength of a presence signal. The presence signal is WLAN-compatible, but does not require association of the transmitter with the WLAN and does not require a response from the WLAN. The presence signal may be transmitted on multiple WLAN channels for presence detection by multiple WLAN APs. The presence signals transmissions may be periodic or may be stimulated by a stimulus from the WLAN or external device that may or may not be coupled to the WLAN. Location finding can also be performed in combination with the signal strength presence detection.
