摘要： A lid for a disposable beverage container. A sheet of plastic is passed through an offset printing process to directly print images at multiple discrete locations on the sheet. During printing, registration marks are printed on the sheet. These marks are used to align the sheet correctly for subsequent printing runs in which additional colors are added to the images. The registration marks are also used to correctly position the printed sheet on a mold. Multiple lids are thermoformed into the printed plastic sheet. The registration marks are subsequently used to correctly position the thermoformed printed sheet with a die-cutter to separate the multiple printed and formed lids from the sheet. The images are printed in non-heat sensitive inks as these will resist distortion of the printed images during the thermoforming process. Preferably each image is printed so that it ends up in a depression on the eventually formed lids.

摘要： A lightweight polyester preform is disclosed for the production of light weight polyester containers by blow molding. The preforms and the resulting blown containers have threads on an exterior surface adjacent an upper end. Adjacent to and located below the threads is a support ring. The support ring is used in handling and conveying a preform from injection molding to a blow mold and in blow molding the container from the preform. It also is used in handling and conveying the preform from storage to the blow mold. To lightweight the preform, and subsequent container, the support ring is designed to have a minimum weight, but a sufficient strength for the handling of the preform in the production of the blow molded container. The support ring is reduced in weight by about 10% to about 70% from a conventional preform support ring.

摘要： The present invention is a method for manufacturing inflatable articles, or bladders for inflatable articles, that is time-efficient, simple, inexpensive and permits the uninterrupted manufacture of numerous and even customized article or bladder configurations and sizes, without expensive configuration-specific, metal tooling. The method includes the steps of applying a barrier material to a side of a first film, providing a second film with the first film so that the barrier material is disposed between the first and second films, adhering the first film to the second film so that the films are sealed together in areas except where the barrier material has been applied to form at least one inflatable compartment and sealed peripheral edge, and cutting along the sealed peripheral edge to form an inflatable article or bladder for use in an article of manufacture. The barrier material may be a paint, ink, paper or surface treatment that effectively prevents the first film from adhering to the second. The inflatable article or bladder of the present invention may be used as or in athletic equipment, for example, including footwear.

摘要： The present disclosure is concerned with improving the appearance of graphics printed on a flexible polymer film which is subsequently heated to a forming temperature and then drawn into a mold to form a cavity adapted for the packaging of an item, typically a food item. The improvement is effected by reducing the heat transfer to the portions of the film carrying the graphics thereby reducing the formability of these portions so that they stretch less than the rest of the film which is drawn into the mold. Typically the film is heated by contact with a heated platen. In such cases the reduced heat transfer can be effected by having zones of a cooler temperature which are adapted to be in registry with the portions of the film carrying the graphics or by covering the portions of the heated platen in registry with these graphics with an insulating material such as Teflon tape. The mouth of the cavity can then be closed by sealing to another flexible polymeric film. If the films used are heat shrinkable, the sealed package can be subjected to thermal conditions which cause it to shrink about the packaged item.

摘要： The specification discloses a method for forming a packaging film. According to the method, a packaging film base layer is provided having a first side and a second side and formed from polymeric materials. At least one additional layer of polymeric material is extrusion coated onto the first side of the base layer. A heat sealable layer is applied onto the second side of the base layer. The method also includes providing a packaging film outer layer having a first side and a second side and formed from polymeric materials. At least one of the outer layer first and second sides is capable of being printed thereon and selected packaging information is printed onto at least one side of the outer layer. Preferably, the outer layer is reverse printed on its second side. Finally, the method includes thermally laminating the base layer and outer layer to one another using a combination of heat and pressure. A packaging film and a method for packaging food products with the film are also disclosed.
