The first conveying unit moves the signatures along the signature path into a vertical position. The device also comprises a stacking table with a support surface for supporting the signatures, which are arriving with a vertical orientation. The stacking table comprises a second conveying unit, which moves the stacked signatures in a conveying direction of the stack. A control unit switches a tilting device between an active state, in which the tilting device tilts or compresses an upper area of the stacked signatures, and an inactive state, in which the tilting device exerts no effect on the stacked signatures.

摘要： In an apparatus for receiving generally rectangular individual sheets and for storing the same in a container (14) in orderly condition, which container is arranged in a housing and has a throughput opening (34) connected with an input opening of the housing by a transport belt (18) for serially transporting the individual sheets, the throughput opening in at least the direction of one edge of the sheets is smaller than the corresponding measurement of the sheets. At the end of the transport belt (18, 24) a stacking apparatus (22) is arranged in front of the throughput opening and includes a stack support surface (30) for forming a stack of sheets, the sheets being arranged upright on the stack support surface (30) and parallel to the throughput opening (34). For inserting the sheets in the container (14) a pusher (48) is provided which is shiftable in the direction toward throughput opening. By means of this pusher the sheet stack formed on the stack support surface (30) is pushable into the throughput opening of the container (14) with accompanying bending of the sheet stack.

Supplementary sheets 21 or 22 are inserted into the fold of copies 2 as they travel on a conveyer, shown as a drum 9, Fig. 1, the copies being opened by gripping and suction mechanisms 10, 13, 14 and released together with inserted supplementary sheet into a discharger 11. The period of time which the copies 2 are opened is longer than the time for insertion of sheets 21 or 22 and over the operational section at least four gripping mechanisms open and close. The folded copies 2 are removed from an overlapping stream by fast feed rollers 4 and a band 6 and sped up to a stop 8 on the drum 9 where they are gripped by clamps 10. Suction mechanisms 13 close over the copies and lift the top fold and easiform flaps 17, longitudinally movable on rods 18 are moved between the folds. Inserts 21, 22 are alternately or simultaneously introduced by the belts 23, 24 to the opened copies 2. As shown, the grippers release the copy with insert to a discharger 11 comprising two adjacent feed systems 26, a vibrating table 28 and a dividing device 30 drawn by a chain 31. Alternatively the discharger may be of S-fly type laying the papers so they overlap on a delivery conveyer.
