摘要： The present invention is an apparatus, and related method, with embedded functionality allowing a user to monitor and control energy consumption, including hardware installed in addition to an existing circuit breaker panel. A preferred embodiment comprises a retrofitting apparatus that can be connected to an existing circuit breaker panel. The apparatus can be detachably connected to circuit breakers or a circuit breaker panel. The apparatus and related method allow remote control of, for example, a processor, controller, and/or node, so that a circuit and/or load on a premises connected to a node on the apparatus can be remotely turned on or off, or otherwise regulated. The nodes, connectors, or processors may communicate with a remote device, such as a phone, computer, laptop, tablet, or other communication or computing device.

The contact is arranged in the housing, and is moved to connect or disconnect the extension and a stab of an electrical panel across a gap (192, 292, 392). The cover is concurrently and automatically moved to uncover or cover an opening (116, 216, 316) of the housing to allow or restrict, respectively, access to the extension. The contact and cover are concurrently and automatically moveable between a position at which the contact bridges the gap to connect the extension and the stab and the opening of the housing is covered by the cover, and another position at which the extension and the stab are disconnected across the gap and the opening of the housing is uncovered.

摘要： A panelboard is composed of modular units. Each unit has compartments for circuit breakers, side walls, and wiring gutters. A main circuit breaker unit has a main cable compartment having separate compartmentalized routing for power cables, and a compartment for the main breaker. A branch circuit breaker unit is edge connected to the main breaker unit. More branch breaker units may be added. Each branch breaker unit has a bus plane for line power, with pin-shaped stabs extending perpendicularly from its busses. The bus plane is covered by circuit breaker compartments in front and an insulative backplane in back. Branch wiring exit slots in the circuit breaker compartments lead to wiring gutters. Each unit is shaped and dimensioned to be mechanically and electrically connected together to form the whole panelboard. Caps for the wiring gutters are front accessible and constitute a front surface of the finished panelboard.

The electrical connectors may have back chassis portions that align with circuit-breaker panel portions so as to provide such electrically connectivity automatically when the circuit-breaker panel is coupled to the back chassis.
