    • This invention relates to an imaging apparatus and an imaging method for supplying an optimum amount of image data to another apparatus. When a PDA 91 has a maximum transfer rate of 1.5 Mbps, a mobile phone 1 determines that a maximum speed of communication with the PDA 91 is low, reduces accordingly the amount of moving image data captured by a CCD of the mobile phone, and supplies the captured moving image data to the PDA 91. The PDA 91 displays a low-quality moving image 93 on its display unit. When the PDA 91 has a maximum transfer rate of 480 Mbps, the CPU of the mobile phone leaves unchanged the amount of moving picture data captured by the CCD and supplies the captured moving image data to the PDA 91. The PDA 91 then displays a high-quality moving image 94 on the display unit. This invention applies advantageously to digital cameras.

    • The present invention relates to a message transmitting apparatus and method in a mobile communication terminal and solves the problem of a message transmission being stopped when a message size exceeds a message capacity is solved. Also, memory resources of the mobile communication terminal are more efficiently utilized because an additional memory region need not be allocated to a message to be transmitted. The apparatus comprises a message generating unit for generating a message, a buffer for temporarily storing the generated message, a controller for dividing the message stored in the buffer into data blocks, wherein the controller converts a format of the data blocks into a type capable of being transmitted or received via a network and stores the data blocks into a file, and a transmitter for transmitting the message comprising the data blocks having the converted type and stored in the file to a receiving side.

    • Described embodiments provide an IP-aware modem, such as for use in an IP-aware facsimile machine, operable with an IP packet network. The IP-aware modem has voice-band data engine that receives packets from the packet network, converts data in the packets to PCM samples, stores the samples as PCM sample frames in a buffer for further processing by the modem, and determines for each PCM sample frame whether or not during the conversion one or more packets were missing. An equalizer or timing recovery element in the modem adapts using the PCM sample frames and suspends the adaptation for the time period of each PCM sample frame converted without the one or more missing packets. Similarly, searches of the PCM sample frames for certain modem synchronization signals are skipped when, during the search, the searched PCM sample frame was converted without the one or more missing packets.
