41 SYSTEM AND METHOD OF ADMINISTERING A LOYALTY-BASED INCENTIVE REWARDS PROGRAM PCT/US2012031447 2012-03-30 WO2012138561A3 2013-01-03 DAO NGON D
Technologies are described herein for providing loyalty-based incentives to existing customers of a business participating in a loyalty-based incentive rewards program. In one aspect, a computer-implemented method for providing loyalty-based incentives is described. The incentive rewards system administering an incentive rewards program determines whether a customer of a business participating in the incentive rewards program is eligible for a loyalty-based incentive redeemable at the business. Upon determining that the customer is eligible for the loyalty-based incentive, a maximum redemption value of the loyalty-based incentive for which the customer is eligible is determined based on a previous transactional activity of the customer with the participating business. Consideration is received in exchange for providing the loyalty-based incentive to the customer and then the customer is provided with the loyalty-based incentive having a redemption value not exceeding the maximum redemption value.

43 MOBILE LOYALTY AND PAYMENT SYSTEM USING TEMPORARY SHORT CODES EP15786008.1 2015-04-28 EP3138036A1 2017-03-08 CHINOY, Bilal A.; KUA, Anthony
A loyalty server enables customers to use a merchant's mobile loyalty and payment program by pairing a customer's loyalty account through use of temporary codes. A customer may login to the customer's loyalty and payment account using a loyalty application installed on a mobile device. The customer can request a temporary code from the loyalty server, and provide it to a POS system associated with a merchant. The POS system can send a request to the loyalty server to retrieve customer information corresponding to the temporary code. The POS system can receive the customer's information, and the customer then earns rewards for transactions conducted with the merchant. In some embodiments, the POS system conducts a transaction using rewards or coupons. In some embodiments, the loyalty server obtains and utilizes the geolocation of the mobile device and the merchant as a portion of the means for pairing.

Loyalty programs can be operated within a payment processing system having multiple vendors, thereby providing access to detailed transaction data and with the flexibility for customization of the loyalty programs themselves, by establishing a communication for the transfer of data via a customer-facing channel. When the payment processing system processes a transaction between a merchant and an account holder, in addition to obtaining payment for the merchant from the account via an acquirer and an issuer, respectively, a transaction handler tabulates and stores, different types of loyalty currencies in a loyalty reward account associated with the account holder if the account holder is enrolled in a loyalty program and criteria for applying the loyalty program are satisfied. The account holder is provided access to the loyalty account via the customer-facing channel.

Embodiments of the present disclosure provide systems and methods for increasing participation in loyalty programs. In embodiments, the customer opts into a loyalty program. The customer is then provided with information about his or her loyalty participation and also is provided with information about one or more other customer's participation in the loyalty program. In another embodiment, one or more loyalty members can form their own competition or group within the loyalty program. The members can create loyalty sub-program rules for a competition and allow fellow loyalty members to participate in the competition. The customizable loyalty sub-program competitions further enhance member participation.
46 Systems and methods for operating loyalty programs US10079927 2002-02-19 US07620567B2 2009-11-17 Colleen George; John Cawthorne
A loyalty system that may be integrated with a financial infrastructure is provided. Such a financial infrastructure may accommodate transactions involving participants in the loyalty program as well as transactions that do not involve participants in the loyalty program. When a transaction is initiated by a customer at a merchant, regardless of who are the parties to the transaction, it is intercepted by a loyalty switch, which determines whether the customer and merchant are participants in the loyalty program. The switch transmits the transaction instruction to the financial infrastructure so that authorization may be received. If it is determined that the customer and merchant are participants in the loyalty program, the loyalty switch also executes a loyalty process that conforms with the criteria of the loyalty program.

A loyalty network enables customers to use their mobile devices (105, 106) to participate in a merchant's customer loyalty program. When a customer conducts a transaction, the merchant's point-of-sale (POS) system (138) generates a code image (102) containing transaction information. The POS system (138) may print the code image on a transaction record, such as a bill (400) or receipt (500), provided to the customer, and/or may display the code image on a display screen. The customer can then photograph/scan the code image with their mobile device (105, 106), which sends the transaction information and authentication information to a loyalty program server (117). The loyalty program server (117) may use this information to credit the customer's loyalty program account, and may, in some cases, interact with the POS system (138) to enable loyalty program credits to be redeemed. In some embodiments, the transaction information may alternatively be conveyed to the mobile device (105, 106) using Near Field Communications.

59 CLOUD-BASED MERCHANT INCENTIVE PROGRAMS PCT/US2013/024422 2013-02-01 WO2013116708A1 2013-08-08 DEMETRIADES, Greg

A customer loyalty program may be implemented in a cloud-based system. The cloud-based system interfaces with point-of-sale (POS) devices at a physical store and interfaces with online transaction processing systems. The cloud-based customer loyalty system tracks customers' purchases and provides customers of a business with an opportunity to review products or refer friends to the business. Customers are rewarded for their referrals and reviews with reward dollars that are exchangeable for coupons redeemable at the business. The cloud-based customer loyalty program may link a customer to multiple businesses' rewards programs to ease the burden on the customer to remember multiple log-ins or carry multiple cards.
