23 Systems and methods for providing anonymous requests for quotes for financial instruments US11409534 2006-04-21 US07680715B2 2010-03-16 Henri Waelbroeck; Brent Gamse; Fred J. Federspiel
Embodiments of the invention provide an anonymous RFQ system for financial instruments that resolves the inherent conflict between a capital provider's need for information and a market participant's need for confidentiality by creating an environment where market participants and capital providers can realize the benefits of sharing confidential trading interest (CTI) information without sacrificing anonymity or enabling information leakage. This secure environment preferably is created within an electronic matching book that distills all CTI information related to each Request for Quote (RFQ) into a risk class that is sent to capital providers in lieu of order-identifying or trader-identifying information. These risk classes give capital providers enough information to offer customized, risk-adjusted quotes without requiring the market participant to reveal confidential information about herself or her order.

35 Technique for generating insurance premium quotes by multiple insurance vendors in response to a single user request US09795824 2001-02-28 US20010023404A1 2001-09-20 Masaki Ogawa; Takeo Kono; Hiroyuki Shimada; Yoshiyuki Nakai; Muneaki Machida
A technique for permitting a consumer to compare premium estimates form a plurality of insurance providers based on inputting conditions which affect the premium calculation a single time to a network such as the Internet. A consumer or user initiates a session by connecting his computer to an insurance comparison website provided by a service underwriter. The user inputs various conditions which might affect the premium for a desired insurance product. The user inputs trial-calculation condition data to a predetermined input button or field of the trial-calculation condition input screen and sends the condition data to the service underwriter. The service underwriter converts the condition data into a form suitable for a standard interface and sends the formatted data to computers of one or more participating and user selected insurance companies or underwriters. A premium calculation engine at the computer for each insurance company calculates an estimated premium. This, and other pertinent insurance policy data, is returned to a frame of the result-display screen and the results of the various companies are displayed to the user.

Conditions input indicating conditions effecting the insurance premiums are transmitted from the user's computer to a service computer. The service computer converts the conditions input into a standard format suitable to a common interface and sends the converted conditions input to the user's computer. The converted conditions input is sent from the user's computer to the selected insurance providers without passing through or interacting with the service computer while being sent from the user's computer to the selected insurance providers. The insurance premium estimates from the selected insurance providers are received by the user's computer and displayed on a display unit of the user's computer in accordance with the conditions input and the selected insurance providers.
37 Method and system for electronic document handling, such as for requests for quotations under an electronic auction US09754028 2001-01-03 US20040215467A1 2004-10-28 Kathryn D. Coffman; Paula J. Duell; Vincio B. Tiburcio
A system for handling electronic documents, such as requests for quotations used in procurement under an electronic auction, includes several features. Once the need to procure a new item (or service) is identified, an electronic request for quotations (nullRFQnull) is generated. Under one embodiment, one or more electronic forms, such as Web page screens, prompt an RFQ author for data entry. Previously prepared RFQs may be readily retrieved and amended. The system requires certain fields to be completed so that RFQ generation is uniform across an organization and RFQs are unambiguous for suppliers. The electronic RFQ is provided to suppliers well before an auction.

40 Systems for processing a product price or quotation request and placing a product order via a communications network US09662398 2000-09-14 US07333944B1 2008-02-19 William F. Harris
A system and method for a manufacturer to attract a customer for a distributor, via a public access network, and perform product information and ordering transactions with the customer, where the order receives the financing approval of the distributor and an associated manufacturer's representative receives a commission. The system and method includes the customer submitting a price/quotation request or product order to a host system via the public access communications network. The host system interacts with the customer, the manufacturer and the distributor in order to fulfill the customer request. The host system retrieves a customer price for the product, where the customer price is based on a predetermined pricing function that varies depending on a customer or distributor identification. The host system may also generate an order for purchase, based on the customer's request, and transmit customer information associated with the order to the distributor for financial acceptance. Upon receiving a signal representing a financial acceptance, a commission is assigned to a manufacturer's representative associated with the order, where the commission is determined based on a predetermined commission function. The host system interacts with the customer, distributor and manufacturer to insure fulfillment of the order, including shipment of the order and settlement of payments.
