130 Apparatus for the manufacture of dowels, preferably wooden dowels DE3838861 1988-11-17 DE3838861A1 1990-05-23 FISCHER WALTER
With the apparatus intended for the manufacture of wooden dowels, it is possible to manufacture, in a cost-effective manner, dimensionally accurate dowels which, in addition, can be inserted considerably more easily into the cylindrical bores of the parts to be joined. The dowel rods provided for the manufacture of the dowels are individually notched over the intended dowel length in a notching station arranged above a revolving conveying device and are cut at the deepest point of the notches. For this purpose, the notching strips of the notching station are arranged inclined in the conveying direction, there being arranged, at the end of the notching strips, in each case a knife which is guided beyond the lower boundary of the notching strips and has a conically extending cutting edge. The through-passage of the dowel rods takes place by means of frictional engagement with the conveyor belts. By cutting the dowel rods, no material losses occur. After the cutting, the dowels have a bevel at their ends owing to the notches which have been made.

The invention relates to an anchoring dowel (11) for joining two bodies (7, 8). The dowel is composed of two contacting half-dowels (11a, 11b) whose opposing faces (13a, 13b ) are helical surfaces twisting in opposite directions. The projecting ends of the half-dowels are thus mutually spread apart with respect to contact zones (19a, 19b), which are compressed by the joined bodies (7, 8) so ensuring the anchoring of the dowel.
132 Dowel-shaping tool, e.g. for furniture making - has rotating rods in supports to hold blank as it is being shaped by cutter FR8803806 1988-03-23 FR2629007A1 1989-09-29
A dowel-shaping tool, for use in furniture making and restoration and using cyilndrical blanks (9), consists of a supporting frame (1) with a cutter (4) extending in a preset direction, and a mechanism for moving the cutter in a direction to its plane. The blank is fitted between two rotating rods set in supports (22,28) on the base, which can be adjusted by means of wedges (23) between the supports and the base of the frame. The distance between the supports can be adjusted by means of a series of holes (26) in the frame in which the support fixing bolts can be adjusted. While the blank is being rotated by the rods it is shaved down to the correct size by operating the cutter by a lever (16) and connecting bar (19). ADVANTAGE - Reduced time and cost expended in dowel-making. (11pp Dwg.No.1/4)
133 Device for producing circular wooden discs by means of a milling cutter DE3743311 1987-12-21 DE3743311A1 1988-07-21 DOMSCHEIT KURT DIPL ING
The aim and object is to propose a device for producing circular discs by means of which exact position-fixing of the wooden strips and separate catching of the wooden discs and milling waste are effected in a wood-saving, automated procedure. This is achieved by a device for producing circular wooden discs by means of a milling cutter which, according to the invention, has rollers or rolls on both sides in the feed path, the suspension on one side being rigid and on the other side being movable. Situated on the worktable is a running rail which terminates at the delivery end of the milling cutter. Furthermore, two horizontally pivotable crushing grippers with upper part, lower part and vertically pivotable clamping jaws are situated there. The invention can be used preferably for the production of cross-timber dowels and pieces for board games.

A tool for use in making lengths of circular cross-sectional shaped wood dowels from lengths of square section wood (Wa, Figure 5) has a passageway 2 having an inlet 1 larger than the rest of the passageway 2. A slot (4, Figures 2, 4) extends into the passageway 2 and a cutter blade C projects into the slot (4). In use, one end of the length of square section wood is held in a lathe, and the tool is held on the other end; the lathe is turned and the tool is pushed along the length.

A device for machining elongate rods has a feed means defined by a track and a plurality of V belts which feeds the rods in an uninterrupted succession one behind the other in a feed direction transverse to their longitudinal axes. The track defines a an arc of a circle adjacent the machine tools which is parallel to the circular machining path of cutting elements of the machine tools.

138 Multi spindle automatic wood turning lathe - has tool set and stops on common carrier for hollow spindles in circle DE3037292 1980-10-02 DE3037292A1 1982-04-22 HOERMANN FRANZ
The set of tools, for turning a turning piece on the front protruding end of a round bar, and thrust device for sliding the round bar protruding on the other side, by an appropriate length, are mounted on hollow spindles with clamping jaws, in a wood-turning machine, of the multi-spindle type. The stationary machine frame has a number of hollow spindles (6,9) mounted on it, on a circle, at an equal angular interval. A shared tool carrier (14) for all the spindles, is turned about the circle's centre. This is armed with at least one set (30) of successively applied profile tools, and an end stop (15) for each. A tool (13) for working the end face of each piece may be mounted coaxially with each spindle. This can be operated by one person single-handed.
