PURPOSE:To permit forming of identical resist patterns on both sides of a material to be printed with a high productivity and at a low cost by transferring ink of a blanket cylinder to a surface of the material to be printed and transferring ink of a blanket sheet to the reverse side of the material to be printed. CONSTITUTION:Ink of an inking unit 8 which was supplied with ink from an ink supply unit 11 is given to a printing block 3 by moving of a carriage frame 9 by a driving means. The ink of the printing block 3 is transferred to a blanket cylinder 7, and further, the frame 9 is moved, and the ink of the blanket drum is transferred to a blanket sheet 4. A material 5 to be printed is placed on the sheet 4, and a surface table 2 is lowered evenly as much as the thickness of the material 5 to be printed by a height adjusting means 12, and the ink is again transferred to the blanket drum 7 from the printing block 3. Further, the frame 9 is advanced and the ink of the blanket drum 7 is transferred to the surface of the material 5 to be printed and at the same time the ink of the sheet 4 is transferred to the reverse side of the material 5 to be printed, resulting in printing of the identical patterns on the surface and its reverse side.

The invention relates to a sheet-fed rotary printing machine, in particular for multicolour printing, having gripper carriages fastened to endless conveying means which are moved in a straight line through the printing units, synchronisation of the peripheral speed of the cylinder surfaces and of the conveying means being provided, and the conveying means being guided between the printing units by means of guides. In the case of known sheet-fed rotary printing machines it is disadvantageous that point-sharp, in-register printing cannot be achieved because of non-uniform movement of the conveying means. It is the object of the invention to provide a sheet-fed rotary printing machine with which the maintenance of register is realised in the presence of uninterrupted forcible synchronisation between the cylinders of the individual printing units and the sheet-conveying means. The object is achieved in that the conveying means are endless toothed rods composed of individual toothed rod pieces which, for the purposes of the drive, are in continuous, play-free engagement with conveying gear wheels, rotating in a single turn, which are connected in a fixed manner to the rubber cylinder in each printing unit.

Cylinder machines.-The type beds of cylinder machines of the kind adapted to receive two formes for printing perfected impressions are constructed so as to be divisible into two readily detachable portions 4, 4a, which can be moved independently to opposite sides of the impression cylinders 2, 2a to enable the formes to be locked up simultaneously. To lock the parts 4, 4 rigidly together, they are formed with interengaging rails 6, 7 bolted thereto. The rails 7 are formed with lugs 7 fitting in recesses 6, and bolts 8 are screwed into lugs 13 on bars 12 bolted to the bed portion 4a, the lugs 13 fitting in recesses formed in the underside of the rail 6. The cylindrical and conical upper parts of the bolts 8 engage recesses in lugs 7 on the rails 7, and coned holes in the rails 6, and square heads 8a on the bolts receive operating spanners. The formes are locked against bars 6, 7 on the rails 6, 7. The rack hanger 14 is permanently fixed to the bed portion 4, and is detachable from the portion 4. When the parts 4, 4 are secured together inclined jaws 16 of dogs 15 fixed to the part 4a engage inclined surfaces on the hanger so as to connect the hanger to the part 4 when the beds are in operative position.
