PURPOSE: To form an oblique shed by changing the oblique degree of griffe frames with a mechanism for controlling the reciprocating motion of two griffe frames of a shed-forming device in a weaving loom. CONSTITUTION: This mechanism includes (A) the first lever which is pivotally mounted to a loom frame work by one end of the lever and to one of griffe frames by the other end and simultaneously is combined with a controller performing reciprocating motion on one side of the loom frame work, and (B) the second lever which is pivotally mounted to the above griffe frame and the loom frame work by both ends of the lever on the other side of the loom frame work. The loom frame work, both levers and the griffe frame form a shiftable quadrilateral linkage and the distance between pins used for making both levers pivotally mounted with the loom frame work is different from that between pins used for making both levers pivotally mounted with the griffe frame. Thus, the linkage transmits the motion to the griffe frame and makes the griffe frame in a higher position move obliquely against that in its lower one.

The blades are respectively pivotally connected to the links by a corresponding number of pintles loosely extending through the holes in the links and frictionally engaging the holes in the blades.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanism for forming sheds, a weaving loom equipped with the mechanism and a method of selecting a moving hook of the mechanism. SOLUTION: The moving hook comprises a body 20 provided with a nose 202 for bearing against a corresponding knife 14, and a flexible blade 21 secured to the body so as to be capable of moving relative thereto and designed to interact with a retaining lever 16 belonging to the selector device. The selector lever 16 forms a ramp 313 over which a portion 214 of the resilient blade 21 slides when the hook 13 is moved in the vicinity of its top dead-center position. The ramp on which the selector lever slides is shaped in such a manner that the components F A+F B+F C parallel to the travel direction X-X' of the moving hook 13 of the resultant of the forces R a, R b and R c acting on the flexible blade 21 when it contacts with the ramp 313 in the vicinity of the top dead-center point of its travel and at the beginning of its downward movement is directed downwards. PURPOSE: To operate a dobby at a high speed without inducing troublesome vibration by making operating knives selectively cooperative with a shaking double hook going and returning motions through a pin engaging with grooves on a synchronously rotating drum. CONSTITUTION: In a weight-closing shed dobby, rocking double hooks 13 are rotatably fitted to at each upper end of each vibrating lever 14 connected to plural heald frames through bar devices 15 and two action knives 11 selectively cooperating with the hooks 13 are provided in capable of going and returning. Further, pins 11a located at axial end of the knives 11 are engaged in curved grooves 16a engraved in the drums 16 to give desired motion of going and returning to the knives 11.
