    • A lock assembly is provided with a key-activated removable core structure. The lock assembly includes a housing having a first internal compartment disposed at a front end thereof, a second internal compartment disposed at a rear end thereof, and a partition with an aperture and a radial slot therethrough for segregating the first and second internal compartments. The removable core structure is selectively removably disposed within the first internal compartment of the housing and a cam actuation assembly is captively rotatably disposed within the second internal compartment of the housing. The removable core structure includes an exterior shell portion and a key-activated lock plug assembly with a distal driver portion rotatably disposed within the shell portion for rotation between distinct operating positions. The cam actuation assembly selectively removably receives the driver portion of the lock plug assembly and is provided with a biasing element which urges the core structure into a first axial position with respect to the front end of the housing. In use, the cam actuation assembly interacts with the driver portion of the lock plug assembly to permit selective removal of the core structure from the first internal compartment of the housing depending upon the axial position of the core structure and the operating position of the lock plug assembly.

    • A handle lock for use on safe doors and the like is provided including a lock shell, a lock plug, a shaft and a handle. The lock shell is formed with a smooth cylindrical outer surface and a central throughbore adopted to receive the lock plug. To provide for selective rotation of the lock plug within the lock shell, the lock plug includes tumbler means which engage with longitudinal lock grooves formed in the lock shell. A shaft connects the lock plug to a crank which translates the rotary motion of the lock plug into the operation of the door latches. The handle is provided with a mounting throughbore formed with an internal annular ledge. The annular ledge has multiple connecting splines which interlock with complemental connecting splines on an annular flange on the lock plug when the lock plug is inserted into the mounting throughbore. The sides of the complemental positioning splines are tapered so that they will slide out of engagement if a significant force is applied to the handle while the tumbler means are engaged with the locking grooves. The handle is also provided with positioning splines formed on the rear face of the mounting throughbore. These positioning splines engage with complemental positioning splines formed on the face of the lock shell when the handle is turned into either the open or closed position.

    • An axial pin tumbler lock for housing in an outer shell. The lock includes a shell and a rotatable driver sleeve telescoped into the shell. The driver sleeve has a bird-cage design including a front large inner diameter portion and a rear small-diameter inner portion and circumferentially arranged throughbores in communication with the inner diameters. A stationary tumbler sleeve is also telescoped in the shell, and in a facing relationship with the driver sleeve. The tumbler sleeve slot includes throughbores in communication with an inner diameter. A spindle extends through the sleeves and is rotatably mounted in the driver sleeve. The spindle includes a body portion and a neck portion with a curved transition zone between the two. Driver and tumbler pins mounted in the throughbores normally prevent rotation of the spindle and driver sleeve with respect to the tumbler sleeve.
