    • A load bearing fabric (10) assembly having a frame (12), a carrier (16) and a load bearing fabric (14). The load bearing fabric (14) is attached directly to the carrier (16). The frame (12) defines view ports (18) to enable visual inspection of the junction between the carrier (16) and the load bearing fabric (14) after the carrier (16) and fabric (14) have been mounted to the frame (12). A method of manufacturing the carrier (16) for such a load bearing fabric assembly (10) includes the steps of: (a) placing the fabric (14) inside a mold (30) with at least a portion of the fabric directly engaging the surface of the mold; (b) injecting a molten thermoplastic into the mold to form the carrier, the molten thermoplastic having a melt point greater than that of the fabric; and (c) permitting the molten thermoplastic to cure to form a carrier directly on the fabric. In one embodiment, the fabric is positioned so that the entry of molten thermoplastic urges the fabric against a surface of the mold cavity.

    • Method for joining plastic materials and products made of materials of various kind, such as natural leather, regenerated leather, natural hide, synthetic hide, fabrics of any kind, wood and the like, without the aid of bonding agents or adhesive materials, for obtaining products of various kind such as for example chairs, settees, furniture, and relative component elements and furnishings products of various kind, and articles for different uses, etc.. Method in which, before the contact with the molten plastic materials, the materials different than the plastic materials are treated, on to their outer surface of contact with such molten plastic materials, with a pre-treatment composition formed by ethylic alcohol, ammonium nitrate and water, at different and variable ratios depending on the type of the materials to be treated, with the following ratios by weight with respect to the weight of the composition : 1) ethylic alcohol : from minimum 30% by weight to maximum 60% by weight; 2) ammonium nitrate : 30% by weight; 3) water, particularly demineralized water : from minimum 10% by weight to maximum 40% by weight, so as to obtain a temperature decrease of the treated outer surface of said different materials, thanks to the reaction of the ammonium nitrate in presence of the ethylic alcohol-water mixture, which determines an evaporation of the ammonium nitrate and the developing of cooling. The molten plastic material is added with at least a cross-linking agent, preferably hexantriol, and injection moulded over the treated outer surface of the different materials, and cooled by means of said pre-treatment composition.

    • An attachment structure for a load bearing fabric. The attachment structure includes an expandable carrier secured to an unstretched load bearing fabric. To attach the carrier (28) to the frame (26), the carrier and fabric (16) are stretched together to desired shape and secured to a support frame (26). The present invention also provides a method for securing a load bearing fabric to a support structure. The method generally includes the steps of (a) providing a relaxed section of load bearing fabric, (b) molding an expandable carrier about the fabric while the fabric is in the relaxed state, the configuration of the frame being preselected to assume the desired shape upon later expansion (c) expanding the carrier and fabric to provide the fabric with the desired tension and (d) securing the expanded carrier and tensioned fabric to the support structure.
