    • A caster wheel braking system for braking rotation of a caster wheel includes a caster having a caster plate, a horn base coupled with the caster plate and rotatable about a vertical axis, a pair of legs extending downwardly from the horn base, and at least one caster wheel coupled with the pair of legs and rotatable about a horizontal axis defined by a wheel axle. A mounting plate is spaced from the caster by a spacer. A movable plunger is disposed between the caster plate and the mounting plate and is horizontally movable through a slot provided in the spacer. A brake shoe is vertically movable by the movable plunger between a non-braking position in which the at least one caster wheel is permitted to rotate and a braking position in which the brake shoe exerts a braking force on the at least one caster wheel to at least partially hinder rotation of the at least one caster wheel. A pin may be coupled with the movable plunger and be configured to convert horizontal movement of the movable plunger to vertical movement of the brake shoe. Additionally, a biasing element may be provided adjacent to the brake shoe and be configured to bias the brake shoe toward the non-braking position or the braking position. One or more of the caster wheel braking systems may be provided on a transport vehicle configured to move along a ground surface.

The brake unit and the brake-release unit are two separate members, while they are interactively linked by a push portion and the notch portion, so as to ensure the accuracy of the brake operation. Whenever the castor is in a brake-activated status or brake-deactivated status, the brake pedal and the brake-release pedal pivot in opposite direction to present different angles, which makes it easier for the user to see the status of the castor (in brake position or non-brake position), and prevents confusion or accidental operation.

    • A combination castor includes a control unit, a linking unit, and at least two castor units. The control unit includes at least one mounting seat, at least one bushing mounted in the at least one mounting seat, and a pedal pivotally located at a side of the at least one mounting seat. The linking unit includes a propeller shaft extended through the at least one bushing and locked onto the pedal, at least one rotation plate secured on the propeller shaft, and at least two links each pivotally connected with the at least one rotation plate and the respective castor unit. Thus, when the pedal is stepped, the propeller shaft is driven to rotate the at least one rotation plate which drives the links to operate the castor units so as to brake or position the castor units simultaneously.

    • A caster assembly is provided which may include an attachment means for attaching the caster assembly to a base of an object, a caster yoke, and a cam assembly operable in at least three states. The caster yoke is operable to swivel relative to the attachment means. The cam assembly may include an actuating means for operating the cam assembly, a swivel lever mechanism and a brake lever mechanism in communication with a cam. When in a first state, the wheel rotates freely and the caster yoke swivels freely. When in a second state, a first swivel brake is engaged by the swivel lever mechanism to lock the caster yoke in a predetermined orientation while the wheel is allowed to rotate freely. When in a third state, a wheel brake is engaged by the brake lever mechanism to stop the wheel from rotating freely and a second swivel brake is simultaneously engaged to stop the caster yoke from swivelling.
