    • A method for producing a package using a traysealer is provided, wherein the package includes a container, at least two sealing films and a plurality of products, of which a first product is located in the container and a second product between two sealing films. The first product is moved into the container upstream of a sealing station, the second product is moved onto a first sealing film before the container, the sealing film and the products are supplied together with a second sealing film, which is located above the first sealing film, to the sealing station. The first sealing film moves above and spaced apart from the container and the first product until the sealing station is reached. In the sealing station the container, the first sealing film and the second sealing film are subsequently sealed to one another.

    • Tandem, vertically-aligned vertical form, fill, and seal (VFFS) assemblies enable a method for manufacturing an ingredient package. An inner ingredient-bearing package is manufactured by a first superior VFFS assembly, which inner package is then downwardly displaced to a second inferior VFFS assembly. The inner package and a second ingredient are deposited (filled) into an open-ended outer packaging material being formed by the inferior VFFS assembly. After deposing the inner package and the second ingredient into the formed outer package, the outer package and inner package are sealed to one another at superior ends thereof to finally form an ingredient package. The finally formed package may be removed from partially formed packages in superior adjacency thereto. The finally formed package compartmentalizes the first and second ingredients for later consumer consumption.

    • Method and apparatus for producing dual compartmented tubular containers which includes a system for pumping a high viscosity fluid at a constant flow rate and includes an air driven pump for pumping the fluid from a storage location to an output point. The pump is of the type which produces a substantially constant output per pump cycle. The pump is driven by an air supply communicating with the pump. A timer is attached to the output pump shaft and measures the cycle speed of the pump. The air pressure driving the pump is varied in response to the cycle speed of the pump to maintain the speed of the pump constant. Whenever the material being driven by the pump increases in viscosity, a slow down in the pump speed is prevented by increasing the air pressure used to drive the pump. Where the viscosity decreases and the pump speed begins to increase, the air pressure used to drive the pump is decreased to maintain a constant pump speed.

    • An apparatus for continuously producing a series of multi-compartment packages formed from a single web of pliable film material. The machine folds the web along one of its side edges to form a pocket or two-ply margin. The web is then passed through a tube former which bends the web across its width until a continuous tube is formed with the two-ply margin to the inside and overlapped by the opposing side edge of the web. The apparatus then seals the tube with a single composite seal across the overlapped portion of the tube, which is of three-ply thickness. Next, the apparatus positions differing substances in each compartment. Then, the apparatus sequentially gathers the filled tubular member at two positions along its length, seals the gathered portions by clinching pairs of closure clips therearound, and severs the film material between the clips in each pair thereof to form the package.
