    • A display package for an item of merchandise, e.g., a toothbrush. The package is formed of a first wall member, e.g., a blister body, having a recess and a peripheral flange. A second elongated wall member, e.g., a planar sheet of film having an inner surface and an outer surface, is fixedly secured by its inner surface to the peripheral flange of the first wall member to enclose the item of merchandise therebetween. The second wall member includes an access window formed by a pair of elongated frangible lines and an access slit. Each of the frangible lines is cut only partially through the thickness of the second wall member, starting from the inner surface of the second wall member. The access slit is located at one end of each of the frangible lines. The window is arranged to be opened by a user grasping portions of the second wall member at the access slit to break the frangible lines and thereby provide access to the item of merchandise.

    • A tubular bag packaging for bar-shaped food products is made of a film with first and second longitudinal edges. The film has a first seal section at the first longitudinal edge. A flap section at the second longitudinal edge has a second seal section along the second longitudinal edge. The film is closed at the seal sections by forming a continuous back seam in longitudinal direction as a fold-over seam. The film is sealed at transverse edges by transverse seams. The back seam has end face edges adjoining the transverse seams. The flap section has a linear separation cut as a tearing aid disposed on at least one of the end face edges and extending away from the end face edge in longitudinal direction. The film in the area of the second seal section with linear separating cut has a pressure deformation line that extends in longitudinal direction.

    • An easy-open resealable package is formed from a flexible laminate that includes an inner structure adhesively laminated to an outer structure. An opening feature is formed in the laminate and is operable for forming an opening into the package. A region of pressure-sensitive adhesive is disposed between the inner and outer structures proximate the opening feature. One or more lines of weakness in the outer structure form at least one peel strip as an integral portion of the outer structure. The at least one peel strip is positioned such that peeling off the at least one peel strip exposes the pressure-sensitive adhesive, which remains on the inner structure. After opening the package by operating the opening feature, and the user can reclose the package by folding down an end portion of the package and adhering the end portion to the pressure-sensitive adhesive so as to substantially close the opening.

    • There is described a method for wrapping an article using a web of packaging film having at least one tar line thereon in the MD, the method comprising the steps of: (a) forming at regular intervals in the MD a tab on the film, the tab having a free end connected by free sides to an opposite end of the tab attached to the film, the tab being positioned on the film so the axis of at least one tear line in the MD passes through both ends of the tab; (b) severing the film web to form sheets by cutting substantially along an axis across the TD of the web, the axis passing across the tab between its ends, where the tab along said axis is not substantially severed there through so the tab protrudes from the leading edge of the sheet; (c) wrapping a sheet formed from step (b) around an article to form a tube with the cut sides of the sheet overlapping, where the free end of the tab lies on the top of the overlap on the outside of the tube and where the cut sides of the sheet overlap at least to the extent that the tab in the film on the top surface overlaps with film underneath, and (d) sealing the film together within the overlap region by a sealing means which: (i) seals more strongly in the overlap region outside a tear line region inside the overlap, where the tear line region is defined by the cut edges of the overlap region (ex TD) and a pair of axes parallel to the non-cut sides of the film sheet (ex MD) each axis passing through the respective widest points of the side of the tab; so the free end of the tab is either unsealed or only weakly sealed to the film; and (e) wrapping the ends of the tube around the article and sealing the ends to form a sealed package around the article, the package readily openable by pulling the free tab end to initiate tearing along the tear line. Packaging (such as cigarette cartons) wrapped with films by this method are also described.
