    • Disclosed herein is a mass production system and method of synthesized carbon nanotubes. The system is configured to completely open the reaction chamber to an outside during synthesis of the carbon nanotubes in the reaction chamber while allowing a specific gas to occupy a predetermined region within the reaction chamber, thereby blocking introduction of external air into the reaction chamber which is opened to external air. The system comprises a reaction chamber having at least one opening opened to external air, and at least one different-specific gravity gas occupying region filled with a different specific gravity gas having a different specific gravity from that of the external air to block the external air from being introduced into the reaction chamber through the opening, a carbon nanotube synthesizing unit positioned in the different- specific gravity gas occupying region to synthesize carbon nanotubes by the medium of a catalyst introduced thereto through the opening, a conveying unit to convey the catalyst to the carbon nanotube synthesizing unit through the opening, and a gas supply unit to supply the different specific gravity gas and a carbon source gas used for synthesizing the carbon nanotubes to the different- specific gravity gas occupying region and the carbon nanotube synthesizing unit, respectively.

    • An apparatus for producing carbon nanotube which comprises a reacting furnace 10 which is vertically installed for forming a fine carbon material by the chemical vapor deposition method, a carrier supplying device 14 which is connected to the reacting furnace at its upper end portion for introducing carrier particles having a catalyst carried thereon into the reacting furnace, a reacting gas supplying device 17 for supplying a reacting gas containing a hydrocarbon into the reacting furnace, a carrier recovery device 21 which is connected to the reacting furnace at its lower end portion for discharging the carrier particles after the reaction out of the reacting furnace, and a reacted gas recovery device 27 which is connected to the reacting furnace at its upper end portion for discharging the gas having been reacted in the reacting furnace out of the furnace and a method for producing a carbon nanotube using the apparatus. The apparatus can be used for producing a carbon nanotube having a fine fiber diameter and a sharp distribution of the diameter on a large scale with stability.

    • (1) A method for producing vapor grown carbon, comprising mixing a raw material gas containing an organic compound and an organo-transition metallic compound preliminarily heated preferably to a temperature 100 to 145 °C with a carrier gas heated preferably to a temperature 700 to 1,600 °C, and introducing the resultant gas mixture into a carbon fiber production zone, wherein preferably a mixture of an aromatic compound and acetylene, ethylene, or butadiene is used as an organic compound; (2) a method in which a transition metallic compound is dissolved in a solvent, the resultant solution is atomized into fine droplets, the solvent in the droplets is evaporated to thereby obtain fine particles of the transition metal compound, the drifting particles are introduced with an organic compound gas into the carbon fiber production zone; (3) an apparatus used in the production methods; and (4) vapor grown carbon fiber thereby produced.
