    • A method for operating an electromotive drive of a textile machine, comprising a contactlessly mounted rotor and catch bearings. The rotor rests on one catch bearing prior to initial operation, and is spaced therefrom by an air gap during stationary operation. A control device allows the rotor to be held in a force-free floating state during stationary operation. The method executes the following steps: (a) inputting an output signal from the control device for maintaining the force-free floating state during operation; (b) calculating the air gap by evaluating the output signal; (c) comparing the calculated value with predetermined limit values; and (d) deactuating the drive when the limit values are passed. The control device comprises a position sensor with at least one sensor coil, at least one actuator coil, a position controller and an integrator, at which the output signal is obtained to determine the air gap.

    • An open-end spinning unit, which comprises a spinning rotor 1 that rotates during the spinning operation at a high rotational speed in a closed rotor housing 2. The spinning rotor is rotated by an individual electric motor drive 18 and supported in a smoothly running bearing assembly. When the drive is disconnected and the rotor housing is properly closed by a cover element 8, the spinning rotor is biased and rotated by an airflow resulting from a vacuum prevailing in the rotor housing and the motor drive operates as a generator. At least one of the electric quantities Pv, Gv which develop during the generator operation of the drive 18 is monitored, and upon exceeding a threshold value which can only be attained when the cover element is properly closed, a signal S is generated and processed in a control unit 30 to cause the cover element 8 on the rotor housing 2 to be locked, and thereafter the drive 18 is connected to its electrical supply to rotate the rotor at high speed.

    • A device for producing a twisted yarn in a combined spinning and twisting process has two open end spinning rotors positioned in a stationary protective pot, a hollow spindle axle into which the spun yarns produced by the spinning rotors are introduced, and a yarn guide channel extending radially from the spindle axle and driven in rotation about the spindle axis for guiding the yarn formed by the spun yarns. The yarn exits from the yarn guide channel and is guided external to the protective pot counter to the guiding direction within the spindle axle to a centering point positioned on an extension of the spindle axle. A device for supplying a dissolved fiber material to the two open end spinning rotors is provided. Two slide bearings for supporting the spinning rotor shafts, an electric motor with a drive member resting at the spinning rotor shafts, and for each spinning rotor two guide rollers are arranged within the protective pot. Each pair of guide rollers forms a wedge-shaped gap in which the respective spinning rotor shaft rests. For each spinning rotor shaft the rotational axes of the motor and of the correlated guide rollers determine an isosceles triangle, whereby the bisecting line intercepting the rotational axis of the motor is positioned within the center plane of the wedge-shaped gap.

    • A device for an open-end spinning machine is disclosed having a drive and a bearing for a shaft-less spinning rotor that forms the rotor of an axial field motor. The device has a stator with a hollow, cylindrical core, a multiphase winding, and a combined magnetic/gas bearing. The bearing has gas outlet bores in an axial, plane-parallel bearing face providing for gas distribution symmetrically about the axis, and there are holding and centering magnets centered in the bearing face. The housings of the stator and the bearing are combined into a one-piece stator housing in which are formed the device for cooling, the gas distribution device, holders for spring and clamping elements of the stator housing suspension, and a support for a sensor plate. The housing also integrates a yoke plate of the bearing and connections for supply lines. A gas chamber therein is closed off on the open side by a gas bearing cover. The device housing has fitting elements and the spinning rotor is surrounded by a guide ring which forms an annular gap and limits its deflection out of the bearing center.
