A tilt meter (75 or 77) adapted to measurably detect a tilt of the support bearing is coupled to the support bearing (52 or 56), where the tilt is defined as an angular difference in bearing orientation between a first bearing position and a second subsequent bearing position that is cause by an axial thrust on the rotary body (22). Once tilt is detected, the bearing orientation of the support bearing (52 or 56) can be adjusted to return the support bearing (52 or 56) to substantially the first bearing position.

摘要： The invention relates to a support system for a scanner, comprising a frame (101) and a drum (102). Said drum (102) is essentially made of tempered steel and is mounted on the frame (101) by a roller system. Said roller system comprises rollers (104) which are made of hardened steel or are at least provided with roller surfaces made of hardened steel. Said rollers (104) are secured to the frame (101) and allow the drum (102) to rotate about a rotationally symmetrical axis of the drum (102). A radiation source and one or more detectors can be secured to the drum for a scanner. Due to the fact that the drum is made of tempered steel and the rollers which have at least roller surfaces made of hardened steel, the drum can rotate at a high speed without simultaneously increasing vibrations. Said thus obtained rotational speed allows examinations times of the scanner to be short, thus vibration-related background signals are prevented. Also, a disturbing noise occuring during the examination which reduces the comfort to the user of the scanner is prevented. Said claimed support system is thus suitable for scanners particularly for applications in which an economical and short examination time is desired.
