    • A pneumatic golf testing apparatus composes of an air cylinder, an accumulator, a barrel, a ball bucket, a ball cage, a golf head clamps and a frame. Air cylinder pumps compressed air into the accumulator and controls the opening and closing of a valve to allow the pressurized air discharging out of the accumulator and to eject the golf ball out of the barrel at a very high speed. The flying ball hits a golf head held by a golf head clamps disposed on a wall in the ball cage. The golf ball then drops in the ball cage for collection and reuse. The testing can be repetitively performed for testing the structural strength, base binding strength and lacquer density of the golf head. The testing is not destructive and can be done in short period of time without a complete set of a golf club.

    • According to the method of this invention, a ski to be tested is supported at its mid-point and near its tip and tail respectively. It is clamped at the mid-point and just aft of the tip of the ski. The afterbody and the forebody of the ski are deflected through predetermined distances, whereupon the force necessary to produce the deflection is measured by a strain gauge. Similarly, the forces produced in the ski when the forebody of the ski is twisted by the application of a couple thereto to produce a predetermined torsional deflection are measured and recorded. The disclosure includes a suitable tip station, center station, and tail station mounted on an elongated base, which may comprise a pair of hollow metal cylinders that act as reservoirs for storage of compressed air for actuation of pneumatic means for application of forces to the ski.

    • A ski measuring apparatus for measuring the resistance of a ski to flexing in order to determine the suitability of the ski to a particular user or condition. The apparatus comprises a fixture for supporting a ski in its natural, unloaded condition in such manner that an end portion of the ski projects from a securing device. A force-exerting unit, such as a fluid motor, is activated between the fixture and the cantilevered end of the ski to deflect that end to a predetermined degree, and this degree or a function thereof is measured in order to ascertain the resistance of the ski to such deflection. In a preferred form, the invention provides for the flexing of the ski in bending and also in torsion, in both instances the resistances being measured. These measurements may be taken in any manner or by any form of instrumentation.
