    • A surface acoustic wave arrangement has at least two interdigital transducers being provided on a piezoelectric substrate along an acoustic path, with at least one of the interdigital transducers being a fan transducer which is divided in a transverse direction into edge tracks and a center track. The acoustic wave excited in the edge tracks can be radiated either bidirectionally or unidirectionally in a predominant direction. On the other hand, the center track is formed so that the unidirectional radiation of the wave takes place in a direction opposite the predominant direction. In this manner, the signal transmission is suppressed in the frequency range corresponding to the finger period in the center track within the passband range of the transfer function. The obtained notch in the transfer function is used, for example, in receivers of terrestrial and satellite-based signals for suppressing the terrestrial signals in the satellite path of the receiver.

    • In a transversal surface acoustic wave filter, an interdigital transducer on the input side, an interdigital transducer on the output side, and a reflector are arranged in the surface acoustic wave propagation direction on a piezoelectric substrate. While a surface acoustic wave passes through the interdigital transducer on the output side and while the surface acoustic wave reflecting from the reflector passes through the interdigital transducer on the output side, the surface acoustic wave is converted to first and second electrical signals, respectively. The interval between the reflector and the interdigital transducer on the output side is set so that no phase difference is generated between the first and second electrical signals. The interdigital transducer on the output side adjacent to the reflector is weighted so that a part of the interdigital transducer on the output side having the highest excitation intensity is positioned on the reflector side thereof.

    • A SAW filter comprising a piezoelectric substrate and at least two filter tracks formed on the substrate, each having at least two IDT electrodes for input and output. The two filter tracks have substantially the same phase within a pass band, while it is substantially inverse-phased outside the pass band. For realizing the above-described conditions, input IDT electrode of one filter track is connected in parallel with input IDT electrode of the other filter track, while output IDT electrode of one filter track is connected in parallel with output IDT electrode of the other filter track. Furthermore, frequency values of said two filter tracks substantially coincide at a point 3 dB lower from the peak transfer function value. Thus the above-configured SAW filter of the present invention is smaller in the overall size and offers a broad pass band and a steep attenuation characteristic.

    • There is described an electro-acoustic device, comprising a piezo-electric substrate and a first transducer and second transducer supported by the substrate and each including a pair of interdigital transducer electrode arrays, the electrodes of the arrays being interleaved with each other. The first and second transducer are disposed opposing each other in a propagation direction of acoustic waves excited by the first and second transducers. The first transducer has a first electric signal associated with and existing across, and the second transducer has a second electrical signal associated with it which has a different phase from the first electrical signal. The first and second transducers are spaced apart such that substantially in-phase acoustic waves propagating in the substrate and incident on the first transducer in-phase with the first electric signal and on the second transducer in-phase with the second electrical signal. Preferably, the first and second transducers are spaced apart by an integer number of half acoustic wavelengths corresponding to an operating frequency of the device. This permits differential or balanced driving of the device. There is further disclosed examples of such a device utilised in transversely and in-line coupled resonator filters to provide balanced or differential inputs or outputs thereto, and to facilitate cascade connected coupled resonator filters having no ground loops.
