    • A valve device is provided with a contraction-type high polymer gel actuator (10) which laminates slab-like negative plates (11) and mesh-like positive plates (13) alternately and interleaves high polymer gel between each negative plate (11) and each positive plate (13), and with a first and a second valve mechanisms (20-1 ,20-2) driven by the gel actuator (10). The direction of deformation of expansion and contraction of the high polymer gel actuator (10) is the same as the driving direction of the first valve mechanism (20-1) and perpendicular to the driving direction of the second valve mechanism (20-2). The valve device is composed in such a way as to switch opening and closing of a first fluid passage (21-1) and a second fluid passage (22-2) simultaneously by means of deformation of expansion and contraction by controlling voltage applied to the high polymer gel actuator (10). This allows to compose a valve device that can open and close plural oil passages at an identical timing.

    • A high-pressure primary fluid control valve (10) and a multi-pressure selector fluid control valve (210) are disclosed for operating a fluid-actuated device. Preferably a spherical ball-poppet (42,52,242,252) and frusto-conical valve seat (36,46,240,250) adapted for substantially line-contact therebetween are provided with an upstream flow area adjacent the line-contact in order to substantially minimize sonic flow damage to the actual sealing surface of the valve seat by shifting it away from such line-contact seating. Preferably, the ball-poppet is movable within a poppet guide (62,72,262,272) that is allowed to float radially in order to allow the ball-poppet to be substantially self-centering with respect to the valve seat. In addition, cross-over leakage is preferably negated by closing an exhaust ball-poppet just prior to opening a supply ball-poppet. These principles and features are equally applicable to either or both of the primary or the multi-pressure selector fluid control valves.

    • A pilot operated control valve (10) has a housing defining an inlet (18) and an outlet (20). A main valve poppet (24) selectively engages a valve seat (22) to control flow of fluid between the inlet and outlet. An aperture (34) in the main valve poppet opens into a control chamber (28) on a side of the main poppet remote from the valve seat. A pilot passage (30) is formed in the main valve poppet with an inlet section (26) between the inlet and the control chamber, and an outlet section (32) between the aperture and the control chamber. A pilot poppet (44) has a body that selectively seals communication between the control chamber and the aperture, and a pressure balancing stem (56) attached to the body extends into the aperture (34). The pressure balancing stem has a recess (58) which is acted upon by pressure in the outlet section and has an end (35) which is acted upon by pressure in the inlet section. The pilot operated control valve also incorporates a compression check valve (60) and/or a reverse flow check valve.
