    • According to the invention, an actuator is provided for a milking installation, wherein the actuator is fixed at a distance to a teat cup cluster and is mechanically coupled to the teat cup cluster via a flexible component so as to incite a stimulating movement of the teat cup cluster on the udder by means of an actuator element. The inventive actuator can also be used to adjust the angle of tilt of the teat cup cluster during milking. The invention also provides a retaining device for teat cups, comprising a fastening device for fixing the retaining device on a predetermined milking position, wherein the retaining device is furthermore formed to maintain, during a first operational phase, every teat cup of a plurality of teat cups in a fixed position relative to each other and to allow manual access to every retained teat cup in such a manner that during a second operational phase every teat cup can be manually moved in several directions relative to the retaining device and at least one additional teat cup.

    • A mammal milking device includes a milk collection container, a vacuum generating device, and a teat attachment member. The teat attachment member is formed such that it forms an angle of between about 45 and 135 degrees between the teat attachment end and the vacuum attachment end. The vacuum generating device operates to pass milk from a mammal's teat, through the teat attachment member, and into the milk collection container. The teat attachment end is configured with a predetermined size for attachment to relatively small teats.

    • A device for removing a set of teat cups from a dairy animal. The device includes a piston-and-cylinder mechanism. The cylinder is attached to the teat-cup set by a cord secured to the piston. The device is intended for use in a milking parlor where the teat cups are removed through the animal's hind legs after milking. The object is to prevent the milker from being impeded in his duties by the teat cups when they are not being used. The cord is provided with a guide that can be shifted by mechanical controls out of an active position wherein the cups can be removed along a vertical plane exactly between the animal's hind legs and into an inactive position horizontally remote therefrom and from the milker's head.

    • A method for mechanical milk removal in which a predetermined underpressure is applied to the interior of a milking cup applied to a teat to remove the milk and, if desired, a pulsation of a teat rubber is effected at a predetermined frequency and intensity, and while the milking cup is in place the teat is stimulated for a predetermined interval prior to the principal milking operation. The invention also relates to an apparatus for executing the method comprising a pulsator connected on the one hand to an underpressure source and on the other hand to pulsator lines supplying the pulse spaces of the milking cup, the pulsator having two membranes which are interconnected by a linkage and which subdivide each pressure cell into two separate spaces, two spaces of which communicate with one another via a throttle, if desired adjustable, while the two other spaces of which are adapted to be selectively connected via a control unit to the underpressure source, and further comprising a switch-over device which is connected to the linkage and which serves to selectively connect one or two group(s) of pulsator lines to the underpressure source and to fresh atmospheric air.
