[Class 91] An apparatus for degreasing metal and like articles with a volatile solvent such as benzine, benzol, carbon tetrachloride or trichlorethylene, consists of a closed container 10 having open upright entry and exit stacks 14, 15, the lower end of exit stack being provided with a pure solvent bath 20 to rinse the articles and to act as a liquid seal against egress of vapours. The articles are attached by hooks or supported on trays carried by a conveyer 12, which passes downwards through the entrance stack 14 between impinging jets or sprays of solvent supplied from a well 18 which is heated by a removable steam unit 17. The conveyer then passes around U- shaped members 40, 41, mounted in the upper part of the container-filled with solvent vapour, and finally around a member 42 mounted in the rinsing bath 20 containing warm pure solvent supplied by condenser 21. The articles then travel upwards through the exit stack 15 in a substantially dry condition. Solvent vapours carried by the cleaned articles are condensed by a cold water jacket 29. Solvent spray in the entry stack may be vented into the container 10 through an opening 23, provided with a sliding gate 25, and vapours are liquefied and returned to the well 18 by a condenser 22. The pure solvent bath 20 is provided with an apron 30 and an inverted syphon 32 by which excess solvent passes into the well 18. The used solvent is regenerated by draining the solvent from the bath 20 into the well 18 and the resulting vapours are condensed and fall into the bath 20 from which the solvent passes to a tank 73. The steam unit 17 is then removed, the well 18 is cleaned, and after replacing the unit 17, solvent is admitted from the tank 73. Solvent vapours are then generated to fill the bath 20.

    • System for mixed washing and the elimination of particles, of special usefulness in specific working garments made of continuous filament such as rayon, rayon carbon, polyester carbon, polyester for use in paint booths or similar, or any other activity that requires totally aseptic cleaning for use by a person or that involves the risk of contaminating the products they manufacture, or a material likely to undergo said washing process even if not used for work purposes, characterised in that the garments or materials are subjected to a dry cleaning process that guarantees the elimination of residues of an industrial type and/or subsequently a process of washing in water to eliminate any possible organic residues.
      Both washing processes are performed in a perfectly insulated enclosure (2) comprising a clean room (4), consisting of an anteroom (5) and a room (6) fitted with a filtering and air regeneration system (10).
