摘要： A rotatable drum (l) carries, and is driven by, a gear rim (3), with bevel toothing (l2), via a flexible frustoconical casing (5) which accommodates distortions of the drum and absorbs axial loading resulting from the bevel toothing. Flexing of the gear rim is resisted on one side by the stiffness of the casing (5) and on the other side by a stiffening ring (9).

摘要： The present invention discloses a way of separating and treating the covered surfaces of stacked articles in abutting face-to-face contact. It is particularly applicable to stacked planar articles, those having a relatively small width dimension and at least two substantially parallel surfaces in abutting contact, such as metal beverage container closures. The articles are pushed through a curvilinear path defined by a constant width trackwork of a herein specified design, allowed to pivot on the portions of the articles in proximity to the shorter radius whereby fan-like separation of the portions in proximity to the longer radius occurs, and treating medium, such as heated air, is directed toward the separated portions. Greater uniformity in treatment may be obtained by rotating the articles, at least once, as they traverse the curvilinear path. A preferred embodiment designed to dry the sealant on metal beverage container closures is disclosed herein.

摘要： The drier transporter belt is formed by metal bodies of isosceles trapezoidal shape. These are made by thin and long adjacent strips (3) and the large perforated base (3a) and sides (3b) are of metal sheet, and the base (4) consists of stays. The strips are end-suspended on endless drive chains and the radius (R) of the drive and return pulleys is greater than the length (AB) of the isosceles triangle obtained by projecting the trapezoidal sides. The strips are 3 to 5 metres long and 20 to 30cms wide.

摘要： When lid 5 is closed it pushes down lever 18 with its movable cam 23, so that spring-loaded member 17 is released by claw 30, and moves into the uppermost lid catch 20 to secure the lid. Tightening of cable 9 by the lever 18 pulls a braking shoe 13 from a disc 11 under motor 1, and operation of a switch 19 by a carrying lever 14 for the braking shoe actuates a switch to cause the motor to spin drum 2. When the motor 1 is switched off the shoe is pushed into contact with the disc, where it remains through rotation of two-armed lever 16 on the carrying lever, in consequence of friction between the disc and shoe, until the disc and drum have come to a stop. Meanwhile, the rotation of the lever 16 prevents spring 10 from pulling on the cable 9, and so releasing the lid 5, until the drum has stopped turning.
