    • A method of fabricating a display panel on a substrate material of soda-lime float glass. A dielectric layer composed of a mixture of lead, silicon and aluminum is deposited on the substrate to a thickness of from 25 to 150 microns. A masking pattern is defined on the surface of the dielectric layer where plasma display cavities are to be formed. Openings are etched in the dielectric layer with fluoboric acid to geometries no larger than approximately 0.15 mm wide by 0.15 mm thick at regions defined by the masking pattern, the openings extending to the major surface of the substrate and forming a plasma display cavity. A cover is provided over the cavity to form an enclosed envelope containing a noble gas. A phosphor is provided in the plasma display cavity together with electrodes adjacent to the cavity for ionizing the gas and exciting the phosphor.

    • A self shift type gas discharge panel has a display screen with a plurality of shift lines in the vertical direction, and a new driving system is provided for the panel. The display screen is divided horizontally into two areas, an upper part having display rows and a lower part having monitor rows, and these monitor and display rows are configured to allow independent shift operation. Thus, relevant data is written from underneath into the bottom monitor row by a one-data-input-and-refresh method, and when the writing into this monitor row is completed, the data in this single row is scrolled up into the display rows. The configuration makes it possible to write data into a desired position in the monitor rows and to amend easily the data already written, resulting in improved operability.

    • The present invention relates to a plasma display panel comprising two substrates defining a gap in which an ionizable gas is disposed. On at least one of the substrates there are a plurality of electrodes disposed on the side thereof closer to said gap. Covering said electrodes are dielectric means which contact said gap. The dielectric means comprises a first portion having a high secondary electron emissivity and a second portion having a secondary electron emissivity lower than said first portion. The plasma display panel according to the present invention can be used to improve the definition of a displayed pattern in the plasma display panel, or as a self shift plasma display panel, and or as a pattern generator in an information processing system.
