摘要： A pedal bin with a detachable cushioning element which dampens the closure of the lid and as such reduces the noise made when the lid closes. The garbage container includes a main body, comprising a barrel body and a cover which may be pivotally attached to the barrel body via an axel. The bin further comprises a linkage mechanism, connecting a pedal to a propping rod which opens the lid and a cushion element to slow the closure of the lid. There is a receiving space in the rear of the barrel body which exposes a portion of the propping rod and the cushion element such that the cushion element is accessible and can be easily replaced. There may be a cover to prevent dirt entering the receiving space. The cushioning element has a fixed portion and a movable portion, the fixed portion is detachably held in the receiving space, for example by a clip mechanism, whilst the movable portion is engaged with a driving member which connects to the propping rod. There may also be a cushion member between the lid and barrel body which allows the clamping of a refuse bag and may have an elastic layer to further quieten the closing of the lid.
