The information can be obtained from the URLs using probabilistic methods, which may achieve better results than deterministic methods. Further, the information obtained from a URL can be supplemented and/or confirmed using information obtained from a web resource associated with the URL. According to an embodiment, a URL for a web resource is obtained from digital content corresponding to a message. Shipping information can then be obtained based on the URL and on the web resource. The shipping information may include at least one of an indication that the web resource is for tracking a shipment, a tracking number for the shipment, and a shipping provider for the shipment. The shipping information may then be stored for later obtaining tracking updates for the shipment.
