摘要： System and method are provided whereby a user may indicate, via an input mechanism, that an item should be selected for purchase from a web site, and the input mechanism is automatically populated with a quantity value indicating the quantity of the item that is to be purchased. As a result, the user need not separately indicate (1) that the item should be selected for purchase, and (2) the quantity of the item that should be purchased. In one embodiment, a web server provides content to a client system which includes commands that, when executed, cause the input mechanism to be automatically populated with a quantity value upon receiving the user’s selection indication. The quantity value may be configurable based on the particular requirements of the web site and/or user.

摘要： Methods and apparatus are provided for managing relationships between individual components and configurations assembled to fulfill requirements in a computer system. In one embodiment, a method is provided whereby a configuration which includes a set of components is dynamically modified to add an additional component, so that the additional component can communicate with at least some of the set of components to fulfill a requirement. In one illustrative implementation in a retail store environment, a cash register configuration is dynamically modified to incorporate a handheld scanning device during periods of high customer traffic, so that a store employee can use the scanning device to provide input to the cash register while it would otherwise have sat idle (e.g., while the cashier is bagging another customer's items).

摘要： An anti-jam assembly for an article destroying appliance includes a fixed core mount assembly including a first support member spaced apart from a second support member with at least one moveable cutter shaft rotatably mounted and disposed there between. A third elongate member extends in parallel relationship to the at least one cutter shaft. This third support member is moveable from a first position to at least a second position. The first and the at least second position correspond to a variable width of a feed path directing an article toward the at least one cutter. An arm is affixed to the elongate member and pivotal at a mounting surface when the elongate member moves toward the second position. A sensor activates when it detects movement of the arm. The arm and the sensor are removed from a proximity of the at least one cutter or the feed path.
