摘要： Fish embryos may be successfully vaccinated or therapeutically treated if the therapeutic agent is injected into the yolk sac. Therapeutic agents may be directly injected or released from microspheres and enter the circulation and tissues. Injection into the yolk sac, combined with the use of carriers, allows for a continued, controlled release of therapeutic agents and processing of antigens. Fish vaccination or therapeutic treatment, selecting fish embryos post fertilization at the one-cell to eyed egg stage of develpment, and injecting the yolk sac with carriers associated with an antigen(s) or therapeutic agent(s), may be fully automated.

摘要： The present invention relates to a genetic marker for determining meat quality traits of pigs and a use thereof, and specifically, a genetic marker for determining meat quality traits of pigs, comprising a polynucleotide consisting of 5 to 300 consecutive nucleotides comprising the nucleotides from the 1524th to the 1527th positions in the polynucleotide of SEQ ID NO: 1, or a polynucleotide complementary thereto, a composition for determining meat quality traits of pigs comprising an agent capable of detecting the genetic marker, a composition for determining Korean native pigs, a kit, a microarray, a method for determining meat quality traits of pigs, and a method for determining meat quality traits of Korean native pigs. The genetic marker of the present invention is a specific marker for determining the meat quality traits of pigs, and thus the marker can be used not only as a means for the objective evaluation of meat quality traits of pigs that cannot be determined by the naked eye but also as a means for distinguishing between foreign pigs and Korean native pigs, and is thereby capable of contributing to the establishment of distribution order of pork meat.

摘要： A process includes microbially degrading harvested polyculture plant material to form a concentrated microbial biomass and providing the concentrated microbial biomass to an intermediary animal for consumption. The process may also be directed to producing a product animal which includes providing a growth area having an outlet for waste and providing a harvested plant material collection area having an outlet for degradation products. The process may also include providing a microbial growth system for producing a bacterial biomass and directing at least some waste from the outlet of the product animal growth area to the harvested plant material collection area. The process may also include directing at least some degradation products to the microbial growth system, directing some of the microbial biomass produced in the microbial growth system to an intermediary animal for consumption, and directing the intermediary animal to a product animal growth area.

Specifically, this invention relates to an in vivo high utility, high-throughput model for screening anxiolytic/antidepressant drugs in fowl chicks with stress vulnerability. This new animal model utilizes an inexpensive avian model, measures spontaneous behaviors in very young animals, and is capable of detecting and/or differentiating a compound's anxiolytic and/or antidepressant effects. This new animal model is especially useful in detecting and/or differentiating a compound's anxiolytic and/or antidepressant effects in treatment-resistant subjects. Animal costs are less than 10% of rodent costs and the assay can be run in a high-throughput mode.

摘要： A spermatogonial stem cell line that is derived from testes of rats characterized by a desirable genetic background can serve as a source for cells to transplant into male-sterile recipient animals that are immuno-compatible with the spermatogonial line. Rat cells thus transplanted readily develop into fertilization-competent, haploid male gametes, with little or no endogenous sperm competition generated by the testes of the male-sterile recipient. This approach, constituting the first vector system for the use of rat spermatogonial lines from in vitro culture in generating mutant rats on a desired genetic background, effects maximal germline transmission of donor haplotypes from the transplanted spermatogonial cells.
