摘要： A regenerative heat exchanger for transferring heat from the exhaust gas to the intake working fluid of a prime mover and from the pressurized working fluid to the exhaust vapor of a heat pump. Application is especially useful in a system in which liquid air or nitrogen made by a heat pump provides compression cooling for a gas turbine prime mover. The heat exchanger employs circulating element heat transfer surface such as wire belts or ceramic balls, which circulate in turn through working fluid exhaust and intake channels while absorbing and rejecting heat between the two channels. Effectiveness exceeding 98% increases thermal efficiency of small low-pressure ratio gas turbines.

摘要： A centrifugal compressor assembly for compressing refrigerant in a 250-ton capacity or larger chiller system comprising a motor, preferably a compact, high energy density motor or permanent magnet motor, for driving a shaft at a range of sustained operating speeds under the control of a variable speed drive. Another embodiment of the centrifugal compressor assembly comprises a mixed flow impeller and a vaneless diffuser sized such that a final stage compressor operates with an optimal specific speed range for targeted combinations of head and capacity, while a non-final stage compressor operates above the optimum specific speed of the final stage compressor. Another embodiment of the centrifugal compressor assembly comprises an integrated inlet flow conditioning assembly comprising a flow conditioning nose, a plurality of inlet guide vanes and a flow conditioning body that positions inlet guide vanes to condition flow of refrigerant into an impeller to achieve a target approximately constant angle swirl distribution with minimal guide vane turning.

摘要： To reduce heat transfer from leakage fluid from a compressor side to an expander in a casing of an expander-integrated compressor to improve the coefficient of performance (COP) of a refrigerator, the expander-integrated compressor includes a motor, a compressor connected to an output shaft of the motor, an expander connected to the output shaft of the motor, a non-contact bearing disposed between the compressor and the expander, a casing, and an extraction line provided so as to be in communicated with a region between the compressor and the expander in the internal space of the casing and configured to extract, from the region, the leakage fluid from the compressor side toward the expander side in the casing and to send the leakage fluid to a fluid line connected to the intake side or the discharge side of the compressor outside the casing. The casing is configured to seal the region from outside of the casing so that the flow of the at least a part of the leakage fluid through the extraction line is the only flow of fluid between the region and the outside of the casing.

摘要： A device and related method that provides, but is not limited thereto, a two-phase heat transfer device with unique combination of enhanced evaporation and increased cooling capacity. An advantage associated with the device and method includes, but is not limited thereto, increased cooling capacity per unit area, controlled and optimized evaporation, prevention of boiling, and prevention of drying of the evaporator. An aspect associated with an approach may include, but is not limited thereto, using a non-wetting coating or structure to keep working fluid away from the spaces between elongated members of an evaporator and using a wetting coating or structure to form thin films of working fluid around the distal region of the elongated members. For example it can be used to cool a computer chip, a skin of a hypersonic flying object, parabolic solar collector, turbine or engine blade, or any other heat source that requires high heat flux.
