    • A recovery plant for recovery of a gaseous component from a process gas has an absorber employing a lean solvent and a semi-lean solvent that absorb the gaseous component from the process gas, thereby producing a rich solvent, a semi-rich solvent, and a lean process gas. A regenerator extracts the gaseous component from the rich solvent, thereby regenerating the lean solvent and the semi-lean solvent. A solvent flow control element combines at least part of the semi-rich solvent and the semi-lean solvent to form a mixed solvent, and a cooler cools the mixed solvent that is subsequently fed into the absorber. In a method of removing a gaseous component from a process gas, a stream of lean solvent and a stream of semi-lean solvent are provided. In another step, the stream of lean solvent and the stream of semi-lean solvent contact the process gas in an absorber to produce a stream of semi-rich solvent and rich solvent. In a further step, at least part of the stream of semi-rich solvent and semi-lean solvent are combined to form a mixed solvent stream, and a cooler cools the mixed solvent stream, which is introduced into the absorber to absorb the gaseous component.

    • A process and system for producing fertilizers with reduced levels of contaminants, and particularly a flue gas scrubbing process and facility that produce a fertilizer byproduct which is treated to remove heavy metals originally present in the scrubbed flue gas. The process entails contacting a flue gas with a scrubbing solution to remove acidic gases and produce a byproduct containing a fertilizer compound precipitate and dissolved metals and/or metal compounds. A fertilizer solution containing dissolved fertilizer and dissolved metals and/or metal compounds is then produced by adding water to the byproduct, after which the pH of the fertilizer solution is adjusted one or more times with a gaseous and/or liquid alkali to form precipitates of one or more metal species. The precipitates are then removed from the fertilizer solution and the solution dewatered to yield a fertilizer product with lower contaminant levels.

    • A system and method for treating process gas streams containing isopropyl alcohol (IPA) to reduce the concentration of IPA therein. The invented system includes a scrubber unit that receives a process stream containing a concentration of IPA and reduces the concentration of IPA therein to below a determined threshold. The scrubber includes a reverse osmosis assembly that significantly reduces water consumption for the scrubbing process as compared to conventional once-through systems. The system may be operated at an elevated pH to prevent biofouling from inhibiting the operation of the reverse osmosis assembly. The system may contain a softening step on the make up water system to prevent scaling in the reverse osmosis system and a softening step on a sidestream of the scrubber water recirculation loop to reduce scrubber tower salting/scaling and to control the pH of the scrubbing liquid.
