    • The control method according to the invention involves prior development of a computer model of the rotating electric machine; according to the invention: 1) the computer model is used to calculate, in advance, for an operating point (theoretical engine torque, theoretical rotational speed (Ω)) an optimal combination of a triplet of control parameters formed from a stator current intensity (Is), a phase angle (ψ) between the stator current and a quadrature axis of the machine, and an excitation current intensity (If) for which the efficiency of the machine is at a maximum; 2) a set of values of the optimal combination depending on the engine torque (Γ) and rotational speed (Ω) is memorised in advance; and 3) the engine torque set point is produced depending on the current rotational speed by setting a current combination of the triplet of control parameters at the optimal combination for said operating point.
