At least one ferromagnetic material is carried within the compartment. The compartment and the ferromagnetic material are mutually sized and configured to allow movement of the. ferromagnetic material within the compartment in response to magnetic interaction with a magnetic material located outside the carrier. The magnetic interaction can include either a magnetic attracting force or a magnetic repelling force. The carrier can be used in association with a source of magnetism sized and configured for placement in or on a tissue region outside the carrier for. magnetic interaction with the ferromagnetic material carried within the compartment, e.g., to stabilize the orientation of a tissue region within an airway.

The clutch assembly comprises two relatively roatable clutch plates, a driving plate and a camming plate, that face one another, with a plurality of rolling members housed between the two members. The second camming clutch member has a face comprising a plurality of radially spaced flat areas and a plurality of opposing downwardly sloped planar surfaces interposed between said flat areas, with the planar surfaces forming an angle. The rolling members are movable from an engaged position with the clutch members to an override position. When the rolling members are in the override position, the recesses form individual housings for the rolling members that include a gap located between the rolling members and a respective curvilinear base area.

摘要： A system and method for making an improved mandibular repositioning device includes a pair of tooth fixation element premolds, a pressure molding cap and at least one adjustment mechanism. The premolds include resin and reinforcing material within a flexible envelope. The pressure molding cap includes a rigid shell and an inflatable bladder. The tooth fixation element premold is placed on the patient's teeth. The pressure molding cap is placed over the premold and the bladder is filled. The pressure of the bladder forms the premold to the patient's teeth. The pressure is released once the resin is set and the formed tooth fixation element may be removed from the patient's teeth. After a tooth fixation element is created for both the top and bottom sets of teeth an attachment mechanism is coupled to both tooth fixation elements to adjustably couple the tooth fixation elements to each other.

The systems and methods make possible the percutaneous placement of one or more intramuscular leads, without the need for fluoroscopy, for providing electrical stimulation to activate a motor point innervating the muscle, to provide the therapeutic relief of pain. The one or more intramuscular leads may be placed in muscle (s) to resist migration. The target nerves and their motor points innervate the muscles in which the one or more leads are placed. The systems and methods can include a two-stage solution. The first stage may include temporary systems and methods, including the use of an external pulse generator. The second stage may include more permanent systems and methods, including the use of an implanted pulse generator.

摘要： A stent according to the present invention incorporates an intraluminal scaffold for initial relief of stenoses or for providing support within bodily lumens, such as blood vessels, of children and adults. The scaffold minimizes flow disturbances in a stented region of a bodily lumen by the use of a strut having a transitional lumen surface, thereby limiting the potential for the development of neointimal hyperplasia and subsequent restenosis, and lessening the potential for early and late thrombosis formation and dislodgement. Any stent for use in any application can be initially- manufactured with the strut shape of the current invention. Alternatively, the shape of the struts of existing stents can be modified during a post -processing procedure after fabrication thereby making the invention applicable to all stent designs presently available.
