At least one bracing means (1.5) acting upon the mobile clamping jaw (1.3) is arranged on the side (1.4) of the frame (1) facing the fixed clamping jaw (1.1). The device allows the flat object to be tightened without any play or backlash. It is particularly appropriate for precision machining carried out in one or several successive operations, during which a predetermined machining position of the object is maintained.

When the handle is placed in a second rotational position the jaws are closed and the movable jaw is disposed a second distance from the fixed jaw, the second distance being less than the first distance.
