摘要： An exchangeable anti-perspiration pad for underwear or articles of clothing has an absorbent layer (3) into which are incorporated micro-encapsulated odoriferous substances (10) and/or micro-encapsulated sweat-decomposing or perspiration-inhibiting or anti-inflammatory active substances (10). The absorbent layer (3) is carried by a water-impervious outer layer (2), which in turn has an adhesive layer (7) enabling its detachable application on clothes or underwear.

Fold formation is facilitated by making the insert in the turn-over area in which the strip, which is usually adhered to the collar outside has unstiffened strips in the area of the folds and another strip for the turn-over area. The first-mentioned strips can be replaced by cuts or perforations. The portion formed in this way can be pre-sewn, turned and stitched to the collar underside, in the same way as a one-piece collar. Despite the fact that the working and material expenditure is only a little greater than in a one-piece collar, the appearance is that of a two-piece collar, which is taken as an indication of the quality of the article of clothing.

摘要： A textile article (e.g. a garment of synthetic fabric) is pref. folded to produce a provisional pleat and a line of hardenable insoluble adhesive (e.g. a synthetic rubber nitrile) is applied pref. along the inside of the pleat. The article is then re-folded along the provisional pleat and pressed to produce a permanent pleat. Pref. the width of the line of adhesive is 0.254-5.08 mm; the viscosity of the adhesive is 10-100 poises; and the quantity of adhesive is 0.02-0.05 gm/m. the adhesive may be applied with a manual applicator having a chamber for receiving a tube of household glue and an elongate nozzle in which is located a freely rotatable roll. In an industrial machine the article may be fed on a conveyor through a nip of two rolls to which the adhesive is supplied. The method is simple and provides a permanent pleat which can withstand many (e.g. 20) dry cleanings.

In a one-piece multiple-ply collar, the band region of the ply 3 which will be furthest from the neck in wear is made slightly longer than the ply 1 nearest the neck and the collar is made by placing the shorter ply 1 with the interlining on the plate 2 of a work-holder and superimposing a spacer member 4 and the longer ply which are clamped down by a member 11 so that the spacer bends the top ply 3, causing its periphery to coincide along three sides which are joined by a running stitch 14. The collar is then turned and the excess material along the fourth side is held in even distribution along the length of the collar by stitching a seam adjacent the fold-line with a sewing-machine having the usual presser foot replaced by a roller 16 (Fig. 5, not shown). Alternatively the longer collar may be stretched on a work-holder as described in Specification 736,129.
