    • PURPOSE:To prepare the low phosphorus high Cr steel by carrying out the melting of a high Cr steel and the dephosphorization thereof and the mxing with a low phosphorus steel in a separate container respectively. CONSTITUTION:A ferrochrome, a waste iron or the like are molten in an arc furnace to prepare a molten metal of the high Cr steel. Subsequently, said molten metal is transferred into a laddle and, after a molten slag is removed, the ladle is covered by a lid to form an inert gas atmosphere such as an Ar atmosphere therein. CaC2 or a Ca alloy such as a Ca-Si, a Ca-Al or a Ni-Ca alloy is added from a lance pipe immersed in said molten metal to dephosphorize the high Cr molten steel. On the other hand, the high Cr molten steel subjected to the above described dephosphorization treatment is added to the low phosphorus molten steel having been prepared in a separate arc furnace from a nozzle of a ladle bottom and, after sufficient mixing, heated to a higher temp., subjected to light decarburization treatment and component adjustment and, further, the final decarburization and the component adjustment are carried out in a VOD furnace to enable to prepare the extremely low phosphours high Cr steel with a P content of below 0.010% at a low cost compared to a conventional method.
