    • Disclosed is an optically corrected lens for nonprescription eyeglasses. In a preferred embodiment, the anterior surface of the lens lies on a portion of a first sphere having a first center. The posterior surface of the lens lies on the surface of a second sphere having a second center. The first and second centers are offset from one another to provide a tapered lens. The lens is oriented on the head of the wearer by a frame that maintains the lens in a position such that a line drawn through the first and second centers is maintained substantially in parallel to the normal sight line of the wearer. Lenses are thus provided which have improved optics when mounted in an as-worn orientation such that they exhibit both vertical "rake" and horizontal "wrap". Methods of making the lenses, and eyewear incorporating the lenses, are also disclosed.

    • Embodiments disclosed herein include eyewear that provides controlled variable light attenuation and color enhancement based on an input received from a user, a sensor and/or a signal from a control circuit. In some embodiments, the eyewear includes an optical filter system with two or more defined filter states that are adapted to improve color vision in different environments. The optical filter system can be incorporated into a lens having any desired curvature, including, for example, cylindrical, spherical or toroidal. The lens can include one or more functional components. Examples of functional components include color enhancement filters, chroma enhancement filters, a laser attenuation filter, electrochromic filters, photo electro chromic filters, variable attenuation filters, anti-reflection coatings, interference stacks, hard coatings, flash mirrors, anti-static coatings, anti-fog coatings, other functional layers, or a combination of functional layers.

    • Eyewear, such as a goggle, is provided that can include an anterior module (such as a lens support) and an interchangeable posterior module (such as a faceplate). The anterior module can be adapted to support at least one lens in a wearer's field of view. The posterior module can be adapted to fit against a contour of the wearer's face and can be selectively interchangeable with the anterior module to modify at least one physical characteristic of the eyewear. In some embodiments, the anterior and posterior modules can be coupled by a suspension assembly in order to allow articulation of the posterior module relative to the anterior module for evenly distributing forces against the wearer's face. Further, the anterior module can be rigid for maintaining the lens in an optically-desirable orientation. Furthermore, the goggle can comprise an interchangeable lens mechanism to facilitate interchanging of lenses in the goggle.
