One preferred pouch holds catnip that is dispensed through perforations by engagement between the pouch sidewall and catnip from cat interaction that abrades catnip into smaller particles and that squeezes catnip out perforations in the sidewall with cat interaction causing the size of perforations in a region of the sidewall adjacent cat-induced deformation to increase dispensing catnip out of enlarged perforations. Ground catnip can express oils that can be dispensed in the form of a scent from the pouch and which increases the pungency of dispensed catnip.

The mount includes an arm that offsets an axis of rotation of the rotor relative to the stream so water impinges against a baffle. A pin can be included that engages the arm that is received through a rotor hub rotatively attaching the rotor to the arm. Such an aerator not only aerates water discharged during fountain operation, it also reduces noise by reducing splashing. The present invention is also directed to a pet fountain equipped with such an aerator assembly.

摘要： A post-extrusion extruded granular sorbent processing system having a pellet-collecting enclosure that receives pellets of granular sorbent extruded from a starch-containing admixture through a die at a discharge end of an extruder and transports the pellets in air from an air mover flowing from the enclosure through a pellet-conveying duct of a pneumatic conveyor cooling and drying the pellets. The system includes a subsystem configured for processing the pellets after extruding, cooling, and drying using a pellet processing machine configured for reducing a size of each pellet having a size greater than a size reduction setting of the machine. A preferred pellet processing machine has rotating horizontally and circumferentially corrugated rollers with a selectively variable gap between the rollers providing the size reducing setting and configuring the rotating rollers for reducing a size of the pellets passing between the rollers having a size greater than the gap between the rollers.

One preferred method of extruding cat litter causes starch dextrinization to occur such that at least some of the carbohydrate polymer binder clumping agent in each pellet is formed of dextrin. Each pellet can be coated such as with a smectite that preferably is bentonite. During use, pellet extrusion formed clumping agent in a pellet wetted with urine dissolves and flows in between and along adjacent pellets causing them to clump together without the presence of any clumping agent additive.

摘要： A system and method for treating or processing granular absorbent while the granular absorbent is being transported in a fluid stream that preferably is a stream of air. The system includes a pneumatic conveyor with a conduit that draws pellets exiting an extruder into the conduit drying the pellets as they are transported through the conduit. Material can be introduced that dries, coats or otherwise treats the pellets while the pellets are transported through the conduit. Coating material, e.g., powdered bentonite can coat and also dry pellets during transport. 摘要： A method, system and machine for cold processing extruded starch-containing pellets by cold particle size reducing pellets of a size greater than a particle size reduction setting size enabling particle size reduction to be performed without compacting or compression any size reduced particle while doing so without heating them during particle size reduction thereby preserving their pores, internal liquid absorbing voids and starch matrix optimizing granular sorbent performance. Such a method, system and machine is selectively controllable enabling not only control of how many and a ratio of fines produced relative to the final product providing real time control of fines production but also is able to provide particle size distribution control as well. A preferred particle size reduction machine is a roll granulator that breaks larger size pellets into smaller sized particles and/or fines without compressing or compacting them with the spacing between the rolls selectively variably in a manner that regulates how much of different sized particles and/or particles falling within certain size ranges are produced advantageously enabling real time control of particle size distribution to be achieved during extruder line operation.

摘要： A recirculating pet fountain with an upper drinking bowl in water flow recirculation with a lower drinking bowl that includes a step upon which an animal, e.g., cat, can perch while drinking. The upper bowl is suspended above the lower bowl by an arm that provides a graspable handle and conduit through which water is conveyed by a pump upwardly to the upper bowl where the water flows downwardly back into the lower bowl. The fountain preferably includes a water-conveying bridge along which water from the upper bowl flows downwardly toward the lower bowl. The bridge can be an open concave channel along which water drinkable by the perched animal downwardly flows. The lower bowl can have a tubular overflow extending upwardly from water in the lower bowl from which water received from the upper bowl, including via the bridge, overflows into the lower bowl during recirculating fountain operation.
