    • In an IMS/ESA environment, an ITASK is provided so as periodically to check IMS application programs to determine whether any is hung, thus providing notification for hung transactions that sometimes occur after an asynchronous APPC call issued by IMS from the IMS dependent region during syncpoint processing. APPC calls cause a time stamp to be written, which is used by the ITASK to determine how long the transaction is in a response wait state. The ITASK is reactivated after a waiting period dynamically determined on the basis of the processes active and a minimum interval. Detection of hung transactions results in a remedial action being taken.

    • In order to create a thrust grating cooler whose system for delivering the cooling air to the individually aerated, reciprocally movable grating plate carriers manages without flexible cooling air hose conduits that are susceptible to wear, at least one cooling air channel is provided that moves together with the C-push frame which carries the movable grating plate carriers. The cooling air channel is mounted at the underside of the C-push frame either transversely or parallel with respect to the longitudinal axis of the cooler. The air entry end of the cooling air channel that is co-moved together with the C-push frame is connected to a stationary cooling air delivery nozzle by means of a seal. A plurality of rigid connecting channels branch off from the cooling air channel to the movable grating plate carriers and supply both the carriers and the movable perforated grating plates that are secured thereon with cooling air. In an embodiment, the C-push frame itself is the cooling air channel and is connected directly to the movable grating plate carriers.

    • A stepped grate-type cooler of the type employing a plurality of spaced grate plate carriers, alternate carriers being stationary and the carriers positioned between the stationary carriers being reciprocable relative thereto. Each of the grate plate carriers includes transversely extending carrier beams with carrier fingers extending therefrom. A plurality of grate plates is carried by each of the carrier fingers, and the clearance between the stationary carrier beam and a reciprocable carrier beam is greater than the width of each of the grate plates in a region extending from the mid position of the reciprocable carriers to either extreme end of the reciprocation travel of the carriers. With this type of structure, it is considerably more convenient to remove individual grate plates since this can be accomplished from the bottom rather than going through the hot gases in the cooler.

    • This invention relates to an improved neck-body joint for a guitar-like musical instrument which joint minimizes the possibility of relative movement between the neck and body and permits the neck to be pitched at a desired angle relative to the body without weakening either element. The firm joint is achieved by (a) providing a tongue which extends from the end of the neck and a recess in the upper surface of the endblock, the recess being positioned and sized so as to permit the tongue to fit snugly therein and be secured therein when the neck and body are fully assembled; (b) providing a dove-tail projecton on the end of the neck which mates with a dove-tail channel formed at the mating end of the headblock and (c) reinforcing the body at a point substantially under the last fret of the fingerboard, such reinforcing being accomplished by securing first and second reinforcing bars respectively to the inside surfaces of the soundboard and the bottom board of the body at the point under the last fret with these bars extending from one sidewall of the body to the other, and attaching reinforcing bars to each of the sidewalls, the bars extending between and being connected to both the first and second reinforcing bars. The desired pitch angle for the neck is achieved by utilizing a soundboard having a large angle curve, the neck being pitched such that its upper surface is in a plane tangent to the curvature of the soundboard at the back end thereof.
