    • This invention relates to an improved three-point support subassembly for pivoted machine tool turntables that is characterized by a pair of floating pads retained in cavities on the underside of the turntable that slide along the opposed planar surface of a stationary bedplate therebeneath and a ball and socket pivotal connection that allows the turntable to swing on a vertical axis defined by the latter as well as tilt relative thereto. The stem portion of the pin is journalled for rotation about a vertical axis in the bedplate while the spherical portion atop said stem is connected to the turntable for conjoint movement in a horizontal plane due to a loose fitting coupling therebetween. The socket journalling the spherical portion of the pivot pin includes upper and lower segments independently adjustable relative to one another and to the turntable for purposes of leveling the latter. Adjustable abutments also engage the pads and are used to raise or lower the turntable relative thereto.

A motor vehicle comprises a metal or fibreglass reinforced synthetic resin body 1 for passengers, goods or luggage, wherein the track of the vehicle is altered as the width of the body is adjusted. In an embodiment, the body sides 2 comprise concertina parts 3 of flexible material which include flexible plastics windows 4, as shown, or the sides 2 may telescope sideways into the body (not shown), or the body itself may be constructed in two parts pivoted together about the longitudinal centre line of the vehicle roof (not shown). Movement of the sides 2 is manually, hydraulically or electrically effected. The seats 8 and 9 are collapsible, and the vehicle engine is contained in a housing 10. The body is constructed on a chassis or frame comprising telescopic cross-members operated by a worm and screw mechanism driven by electric motors. The body may also comprise longitudinally telescopic portions as described in Specification 1,102,444 mounted on telescopic longitudinal members driven by electric motors. Another small vehicle (not shown) may be carried in the rear of the vehicle, and may have its drive batteries charged by the engine-driven generator of the vehicle.

    • 601,520. Drills and cutters-bars. CLARK, R. H. Feb. 22, 1945, No. 4500. [Class 83 (iii)] A tool for cutting holes in sheets, plates and the like comprises a number of cutters carried by a body, projecting forwardly and outwardly from the body and angularly with respect to radial planes passing through the tips of the cutters and the body axis, the outer ends of the cutters being dressed so that the angles between the leading faces of the cutters and the said radial planes vary. The body portion 10 of the tool, with which the shank 11 may be integral or screwed thereto, is of hexagonal section with alternate faces slotted at 18 to take the forwardly and outwardly extending cutting tools A, B, C. The tools are clamped in adjusted position, according to the diameter of hole to be cut, by set bolts 12 and clamping washers 23. The leading faces 27 of the cutting tools are arranged at an acute angle 2. Fig. 2, to the radial planes passing through the cutting points and the axis of the body, and in one cutter this angle is reduced by an amount Y on the operative portion of the cutter to prevent chatter. The tips 31 of all the cutters are ground back to reduce the tendency to dig in. The pilot portion 13 may be secured to the body by a wedge-pin or by a set-screw and for use in setting the cutters an auxiliary pilot with a cut-away face corresponding with the axis of the complete tool may be employed. In an alternative arrangement the tools A, B, C are replaced by cutter bars and cutting tools are adjustably clamped in position at the ends of the bars.
