摘要： Disclosed embodiments address contaminant management challenges that arise during production of desirably contaminant free product fluid in the operation of PSA equipment, and further address the more serious challenges that arise under intermittent operation of PSA equipment. One disclosed embodiment of a PSA apparatus, intended primarily for normal operating cycle speeds of at least 3 cycles per minute, includes a breather fluidly coupled to a feed end of an adsorber with a contaminant-sensitive adsorbent. The breather can be coupled to the feed end through a shutoff valve closed during production and open during shutdown. Other disclosed embodiments of the PSA apparatus used particular sealing strategies for additional sealing of the apparatus, or at least components thereof, from contaminant ingress. For example, one embodiment comprises a buffer seal for receiving a buffer gas having a contaminant vapor content substantially the same as or less than a product gas produced by a pressure swing adsorption process over the adsorbers. The buffer chamber may have flushing circulation provided by delivered product flow. As a second example of sealing strategy, a parking seal can be used that typically is engaged when the apparatus is parked. The parking seal can be used alone, or in combination with other contaminant management features. Embodiments of a method for reducing adsorbent degradation by contaminant adsorption while producing a product gas also are described comprising providing described embodiments of the PSA apparatus or system, and operating such PSA apparatus or system to produce a product gas. Various embodiments for operating a PSA apparatus and system during normal product delivery, shutdown, park and start up modes also are described.

The system comprises a dust collecting unit disposed between an inlet duct and an outlet duct for removing dust, an organic compound removing unit disposed between the inlet duct and the outlet duct for removing volatile toxic organic compounds, and an inlet blower disposed between the dust collecting unit and the organic compound removing unit. The dust collecting unit is made up of a bag filter, which comprises a housing formed in the shape of a box and connected to the inlet duct, a plurality of filtering members, such as cloth or felt, arranged in the housing, and dust collecting layers defined between the housing and the filtering members. The organic compound removing unit comprises an absorbing apparatus for absorbing the volatile toxic organic compounds, and regenerating heaters attached on the outer circumference of the absorbing apparatus.

A thin layer of metal oxide derived from a colloidal solution of the oxide is deposited on the adsorbent or catalyst particle, which greatly improves the physical properties of the particle with regards to attrition and dust formation while retaining the adsorbent and catalytic properties of the particle. The method is applicable to a variety of porous refractory oxides. For example, treatment with colloidal silica improves greatly the physical stability of alumina adsorbents.

The composite zeolite product is preferably prepared by forming a mixture of an agglomerate of silica and sodium zeolite X having a Si/Al atomic ratio in the range of about 0.9 to less than about 1.2 and a water-soluble sodium aluminate salt; maintaining the mixture at a temperature in the range of about 25 to about 100° C. for a period of time sufficient to convert at least 50% of the silica to sodium zeolite A; and at least partially exchanging the zeolite A-containing product with divalent cations, preferably calcium ions.

摘要： In a pressure swing adsorption process for the separation of gases comprising the steps of passing crude gas under a superatmospheric adsorption pressure through a drying bed of H.sub.2 O-selective adsorbent to remove gaseous H.sub.2 O and then passing resultant H.sub.2 O-free gas sequentially through a separate and distinct zeolite-containing adsorbent bed for the removal of low-boiling impurities and the further steps of pressure release, desorption and pressure buildup to adsorption pressure, the improvement in the pressure buildup step which comprises introducing an H.sub.2 O-depleted gas obtained during said process to a point intermediate the drying bed and said zeolite-containing adsorbent bed and passing said H.sub.2 O-depleted gas into the drying bed in a countercurrent direction to the flow of crude gas and into the zeolite-containing adsorbent bed in a cocurrent direction to the flow of crude gas, and continuing said passing of said H.sub.2 O-depleted gas until the pressure buildup is at least 20% of the adsorption pressure.
