    • A wheel hub (8) for a two-wheeled vehicle and a traction element transmission that can be coupled to the wheel hub (8) are described. The wheel hub (8) comprises, inter alia, an axle, a housing, a driver, a transmission, which couples the driver and the housing to one another, an output wheel (13) of a traction element transmission, and a releasable coupling, which couples the output wheel (13) to the driver. The output wheel (13) is attached to the two-wheeled vehicle in such a way that it remains on the two-wheeled vehicle when the coupling between the driver and the output wheel (13) is released.The traction element transmission for a two-wheeled vehicle, in which the rear wheel is attached rigidly to the frame or is supported in a sprung manner on a swing arm, comprises an input wheel (12), an output wheel (13) and an endless coupling means (14). In this arrangement, the input wheel (12) and the output wheel (13) interact directly with the endless coupling means (14). The traction element transmission furthermore comprises a first compensation mechanism, which acts on a guide wheel (15.1, 15.2) for the coupling means (14), by means of which compensation mechanism the guide wheel (15.1, 15.2) can be moved over a first radial path, and a second compensation mechanism, which acts on a guide wheel (15.1, 15.2) for the coupling means (14), by means of which compensation mechanism the guide wheel (15.1, 15.2) can be moved over a second radial path. Here, the first path is longer than the second path.The interplay between these two components makes possible a two-wheeled vehicle, the traction element transmission of which is safe and requires little maintenance despite its mobile rear-wheel swing arm, which may be present, and the rear wheel of which can be removed from the two-wheeled vehicle without interfering with the traction element transmission.

    • A bicycle is provided with a body frame, a swing arm structure, a rear wheel, and a transmission. The transmission includes a drive rotation body to be rotation-driven by a crankshaft, and a plurality of gear-change rotation bodies. The transmission is provided with an output axis supported to be rotatable to a support member fixed to the bicycle body frame, and drive-coupled to the plurality of gear-change rotation bodies, and a gear-change pulley for drive-coupling the drive rotation body and the operation rotation body alternatively selected from the plurality of gear-change rotation bodies by being placed thereacross by a gear shifting mechanism. The output axis is drive-coupled to the rear wheel via an output pulley, thereby preventing the gear-change pulley from sagging even if the swing arm swings.

    • An oil splash cover for a motorcycle which comprises an elongated U-shaped upper housing section and a similarly configured inverted lower housing section spaced from each other along most of their lengths by brackets, and brought together and bolted at their trailing ends. The forward ends of the thus-held housing sections rest upon motorcycle frame members and the brackets securing the upper and lower housing sections in their spaced relationship are looped and fitted around a swinging arm for the cycle''s rear wheel to support the housing in relation to said arm. A chain guide is mounted at a forward position to guide a broken end of the chain around a front sprocket. The two housing sections are configured along their edges adjacent the rear wheel axle to provide a larger opening. The lower housing section is further orificed to receive the end of an oiler tube and to locate said end above the lower portion of the chain loop to drip oil on the chain. The tube extends upwardly to an oil reservoir disposed below the motorcycle seat or on top chain cover, the reservoir being provided with a manual valve means to regulate the oil drips through the tube and onto the chain. An oil drip drain is also provided at the trailing end of the rear section.

    • An enclosed bicycle drivetrain is provided that produces a range of drive ratios suitable for any riding purpose. The enclosure of substantially the entire drivetrain is made practical by the synergistic cooperation of a planetary drive system using a single chain ring and a streamlined rear derailleur system that separates the tensioning and chain guiding functions of a conventional rear derailleur, allowing the rear derailleur components to remain substantially within the shadow of the outer perimeter of the bicycle frame. The planetary drive system is provided with a unique compound pawl that may be easily disengaged from a planetary ratchet member under full riding loads by the application of a small force to destabilize the pawl. A unique shift buffer mechanism cooperates with the rear derailleur system to buffer and store up to the full range of available shift commands.

    • A chainguard is disclosed for fully enclosing a bicycle chain on a bicycle having a front sprocket and a rear sprocket. The chainguard includes inside and outside covers extending from the front sprocket to the rear sprocket. The inside cover is formed as a hinged structure having top and bottom halves which may be pivoted together once the inside cover is in position extending around the bicycle crank and the rear axle. After the inside cover is in position, the outside cover may be moved into engagement with the inside cover whereby the top and bottom halves of the inside cover are secured together and the bicycle chain is fully enclosed.
